I've been here since 2008.I lost an Ag tag account and burned a ton of socks along the way. I was a bit too passionate on some subjects but I've matured.

We have created one of the best news/politics sources on the internet. We provide faster news and in-depth discussion than anywhere else. Sane arguments backed by evidence wins the debate here.

I quit X in an effort to slow down on my innernets. But I still come here.

This site, mostly on a few boards, has been an incredible source of information and Intel. We all know that CNN on the Brazos (KBTX) frequently covers stories they see here. Don't really blame them. I would do the same.

True story.

When the explosion in West occurred, I was working in public information for Texas Task Force One.

I saw a post on the Outdoors Board immediately after the event from witness and others nearby. Starting to realize the magnitude, I popped up the local scanner. One of the first things I heard was, "Apartment building structural collapse".

I was pretty certain the TF would be deployed. So, I contacted the chief and gave him a brief. If I recall correctly, before they were officially activated, they sent a QRF to start getting boots on the ground and start feeding info back to help the team prepare.

Took one of the craziest images there of one of the search teams walking up the railroad tracks that were no longer straight. I can only describe the rails as "noodled".

With the diversity (jobs, geography , experience) of all the different people on here plus the vetting of people getting Ag Tags, it's nice to know that you're talking to someone who is at least semi-educated versus straight up randoms on the Internet.

TexAgs really does know stuff.

There is one particular subject the mods have been sensitive to and deleted my posts many times over the years.

But otherwise, it's good value.

If I want an uncensored hot take complete with dirty words, there's no substitute for Tiger Droppings but over there you're also dealing with folks from Louisiana who are probably drunk so use caution.

I quit Twitter (I know, don't GAF) a few years ago, and it was the best thing possible. No more doom scrolling through things intentionally posted to get people rage-fueled while providing nothing newsworthy.

As for this place, if it's done anything for me, it is to show me how the "other side" thinks and, more importantly, why. I've come to respect more conservatives and their views than I would have had I just stayed on left-wing echo chamber sites.

And a shout out to staph for putting up with us when we all know there can be times when they do more babysitting and scolding than most parents.

I love it as well but disagree on the echo chamber. Yeah, this site leans heavily right but there is a respectful (for the internet) discussion and we allow the libs to bring their daily talking points which keep the forum sharp and sharpens logic based arguments.

It amuses when leftist trolls visit us complaining and laughing about this being a far right wing echo chamber. It also amuses me that the rest of TexAgs despises this place and thinks it should be shut down.

The left including most of the other boards on here can't handle differing opinions.

I don't care about differing opinions, as long as you are polite and have manners. Not salting the table's basket of tortilla chips at a Mexican restaurant is nice too.

One thread that comes to mind recently was a 10 page thread trying to justify that you cannot be considered a Christian and vote Democrat. There were some wild posts there and I was surprised the thread wasn't nuked sooner.

Also, I understand why people voted for Trump but the weeks leading up to the election, some posters couldn't handle any Trump criticism and got quite riled up easily. I guess I forget tensions get high around then

I'm here because TexAgs is one of the best news aggregators around. Also, watching liberals get their child-like political takes pushed into their 4th point of contact by the brain trusts in here is fairly high entertainment as well.
