After sifting through all of this, that seems to be only reason from Trump's POV which I can understand on its surface. Republicans having the means to get their message out and actually convince young people to change their minds about Marxism has been a rare mechanism, if one ever even existed. Of course, we have no data to know how much influence it's actually had on young people to walk away from Democrats. Everything I've seen is anecdotal.

But, then, the very platform that has finally given Republicans inroads to young people is also an app controlled by the CCP. Quite the conundrum. I agree the CCP version of Tik Tok should be banned. The CCP is our enemy and has proven this 1000x over. They have human assets planted all over this country on top of digital spyware and malware. Texas A&M employed a couple dozen Chinese spies just a year or two ago.

It's hard for me to be ok with allowing this even if the R's finally found an application where they can influence brain washed, Marxist kids. My guess is that Trump will find a way to keep it around through US ownership or by using the original plan of having them station their servers on US soil so they can be monitored.

Edit: and it looks Trump has announced his 50% ownership plan while I was tying this.
