No, I don't think American corporations are anywhere near the level of a communist ****ing government of china.

Oh wait, I fondly remember Reagan pimping the virtues of the Soviets over American companies. Oh wait, that never happened.

Yeah, it brought nothing to the conversation, just like your comment.

What do you think about our soon to be POTUS coming out the past few days praising TikTok and wanting it to stay around?

I don't get the unnecessary argument.

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree with the content. This isn't a moral content situation.

It's a being banned because they believe it is a tool used by a state enemy to harvest data harmful to the USA. Specifically location tracking data. That's it.

If they find links to Russia and X, the same should happen. But they haven't so it's not relevant. Neither are moral beliefs of the content.

I just find it funny that practically all American industries from social media companies to banks have had either massive data leaks or straight up sold your data yet the politicians have convinced some of you that TikTok is a threat. My goodness.

Ya, one is a tool of the communist chinese and one isn't. Stop watching a funny dance video for a second to see that one is a foreign enemy and the others aren't.

If tik tok gets sold from the CCP I'm okay with it.

You think American corporations aren't an enemy of the American people. That's rich. All of them hate you and me and will exploit the **** out of us for profit.

Based on what evidence? What is harmful by harvesting public data?

So apparently, a bunch of idiots jumped ship from TikTok and went to RedNote because of the upcoming ban. Now everyone is trying to learn Mandarin and looking like morons. All the while, Chinese content creators are roasting Americans who are joining RedNote.
2025 sure started off with a bang.

The irony is so many on here have no idea how the CCP has penetrated private Chinese businesses heavily since 2012. https://eastasiaforum.org/2023/08/11/ccp-branches-out-into-private-businesses/

They openly require full access and have committees at each company reporting back to the CCP. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has enacted several laws that require businesses to provide access to data and facilitate the government's collection, transmission, and storage of data. These laws include the National Intelligence Law of 2017, the Data Security Law of 2020, and the Cryptology Law of 2020. These laws compel Chinese businesses and citizens, including through academic institutions, research service providers, and investors, to support the CCP's data access efforts. https://thehill.com/opinion/cybersecurity/532583-for-chinese-firms-theft-of-your-data-is-now-a-legal-requirement/

What do you think they might do with that access? Here are a couple of examples.

Hikvision, a Chinese state-owned manufacturer of video surveillance equipment, has been involved in several controversies related to cybersecurity and national security concerns. Here are some key points regarding Hikvision and attacks or vulnerabilities:
  • Hikvision Vulnerabilities: In 2021, a critical command injection vulnerability (CVE-2021-36260) was discovered in more than 70 Hikvision camera and NVR models. This vulnerability could allow a remote attacker to take complete control of a targeted device without any user interaction, posing significant risks to organizations using Hikvision equipment.
  • Chinese Government Allegations: Hikvision has been accused of having close ties to the Chinese government and Communist Party. In 2015, the company received $3 billion from the Chinese government, raising concerns about its alignment with the state.

DJI Drones - DJI's flight log sync feature, known as Supervisor, has been identified as a potential data collection tool that transmits drone usage data, including location data, to Chinese servers. This has raised concerns about the privacy and security of users' information.

How about Huawei and ZTE? Remember those Chinese companies? Don't think I'm being biased though. I know most foreign governments are doing the exact same thing. Even the US is doing this.... Just don't pretend this is brainwashing on F16 and go read the proof all over the news.

My concern is for American teenage hoars.
What will they do to get attention? Where else will they make money by posting thirst traps?
Will this mean monopoly to OnlyFans?
Will the Government step in to break up OnlyFans?

It is telling if they did refuse to break the US part off from parent.

T&P to all those people/influencers on TikTok that make a living off of it. /s

By when does the SC have to weigh in on this?

The ban would go into effect on January 19 unless the Supreme Court takes an action to stop it. They would need to issue an injunction or issue a final decision in favor of Tik Tok to stop it from going into effect.

They do not have to do anything by January 19, however. They could just let the law take effect on the 19th and issue their decision at some later time.

I think as each day goes by, it becomes more and more likely they do the latter.
