A lot of those "Republicans" are really Democrats who just run in the GOP primary because they'd never win the general as a Democrat.

So not a red state.
Their constituents are red as hell. They just didn't pay attention to state races.

Valid point.

The SREC just passed a resolution considering a vote for anyone but Cook a censurable act. They will also spend funds to educate voters on the resolution in the congressman's district, and encourage the Party not to accept the application to the Primary for 24 months after said vote.
I don't know that this will change any of the turncoats' minds, but this a significant statement by the Republican Party.

What a sad statement that these RINOs would rather side with Democrats rather than members of their own Party. If they don't flip between now and January 14th, every one of them needs to be primaried.

Time to turn up the heat on these folks and let them know the public is paying attention this time and there will be political consequences for this vote.

I'm an example of this. I had no idea my local guy was a RINO, until I noticed he was one of the jackasses that voted against vouchers. Then I went out of my way to vote against his ass. And I wasn't alone, as he lost by over 25 points in the primary.

And so it doesn't matter how red they are. Texas isn't governing like a red state. That is a fact.

So they should get off their ass and actually research their vote for the primaries (like I finally did this time around). If they did, these RINOs would be gone.

Just Democrats gaming the system.

We need closed primaries and candidates cannot run in the primary unless party members for at least 5 years or longer.

I know the state delegates have been debating that. Some want to keep RINOS out. Some don't want to discourage people who truly have switched parties to republican from running.

I think we have to have closed primaries. What we've been doing isn't working.

I did that and both candidates said all the right things. I didnt find out until after the general election that Gerdes' second largest donor was Phelan. It appears clear that his vote is bought and paid for, his constituents wishes be damned.

My guy bashed the CRAP out of Phelan. It was clear that Phelan would never give him a dime. My vote was easy this time around.

Texas is a purple state and this is proof. Don't care what the POTUS results were.

No it's not at all. That's a foolish statement to make after this election cycle. Rs gained damn near a million voters, what's next? exposing RINOs, so these new voters will be educated and can vote in the right people in next round. Social media will do that.

These asses are there because they haven't been exposed, it was never really attempted with MSM driving candidates. Social media changed that and defeated 15 of them. Next time it'll be more.

Many of those F'ers signed their death warrant today. Guess they do not think MAGA movement will be enforced locally too. Wrong. They're done

Lots of talk but there was not enough action when Phelan was in his runoff battle after losing to his opponent in the general election. Phelan outspent his opponent hugely and bought the runoff.

Conservative Republicans need to knock these Schmucks out of politics when given the chance.
Problem is, lots of very marginal R areas like Plano, Frisco, Beaumont, etc where Rinos can get Democrats to vote for them. Especially in a runoff like Phelan had.

I see a couple of Reps in neighboring districts where I do business and often shop in. I'm going to call and email them both and let them know in no uncertain terms that I will be making big donations to their primary opponents if they don't get in line behind Cook.

It's not necessarily over. There is still time to apply a lot of political pressure.

Force is a bit strong, a better one is "compel". And if a party is funding your race and helping you get elected because you claim to share the platform and ideals then you better ****ing step up and play ball. If you don't want to do that then run as an independent or as the opposite party.

Many, if not most, of these reps come from deep red districts and don't want their rep cutting deals with democrats over party. So spare me the the constituents BS. They are cutting these deals for personal gain, not because it's what their constituents want. And if they don't want to embrace party unity on a speaker vote then don't run as member of the party and take their money.

Yes, but when you run as a republican it means supporting republican leadership and following the rules of the republican caucus. If you choose not to do so, you can run as an independent next time and see how that works out for you. Don't call yourself a republican to get elected and then use your first vote of the legislative session to make sure the prime republican agenda items get thwarted via a backroom deal with democrats.
