The utter failure of their cvt isn't helping.

All the car companies are flailing though. Stellantis has crapped the bed, Ford is scrambling to not get sued by its dealerships and sell it's inventory off at 40% of msrp, Chevy and dodge have crap failing and can't move inventory like Ford, and Toyota has trucks grenadine engines hand over fist.

People need a 15k car option, a 20k truck option, and the average vehicle to be affordable on a 40-50k salary. Instead the carmakers are producing 40-50k vehicles as BASE models and wondering why they're failing.

I had a Toyota salesman call my work phone today by accident. I politely told him what was up, and he still begged to get me in. They're all desperate, and there's just no way the overwhelming majority can entertain the discussion.

Yes. The 6 figure family SUV is insane. I looked at tahoes lately, and they basically told me to pound sand on any discounts on models less than the high country. With about 200 sitting on the lot

Six weeks after I bought my truck, the salesman was already calling me to trade it in and get something new. He pestered me nonstop for three months until I blocked his number.

I don't know how young families can afford new cars at these prices.
I picked up a 2012 Cadillac crossover for nearly free from an estate. Runs great and looks great.
It's a second car but it would be first if my 2007 diesel truck went out until I found a replacement.

My dad would make fun of folks with nice cars parked in front of junky houses. We had a nice house with older cars in front of them.

If I'm dropping 6 figures on a SUV, I'm getting the Rubicon 392 so at least I'll get some fun out of it...

Noone can truthfully afford them. People are making it happen, but not nearly as fast as traditionally. The situation really has to give, or the auto industry will self immolate

They had a CEO embezzle a huge amount of money and make a few bets on things that didn't work out. Then instead of fixing their product line, they just spent money like a drunken sailor on marketing. Remember the Star Wars commercials with Nissan cars?

The maxima and Altima are no longer comparable with other cars from those segments. They missed hugely on the Titan refresh. So the only thing they have left is a reasonably nice medium size truck, and the new Z car

Auto interest rates are pretty rough too. Financing a 100k ride at 6%?

**** that

Or by a bunch of crap and features that nobody needs outside the service department to charge you a 1k to restart the software.

Yeah, I had the GMC place calling me almost every day.
Told them there was no way I was buying a vehicle at 6-8% APR. Especially since they don't want to deal on prices and the other dealerships nearby are running 0 - 1.9%.

I will say that I sat in the 2025 Armada at a car show last weekend, and that has to be the absolute most comfortable seat I've ever been in. But I know that when those hit the dealership, they're probably going to be in the realm of Tahoe / Yukon pricing now.

I was recently in the market for a midsize truck. Everyone and their dog said to only consider the Nissan Frontier and the Toyota Tacoma. But both felt so terribly dated inside, offered little in premium trims to offset it, and lacked the performance of the Colorado. So I went with the Colorado. Seems both Toyota and Nissan have really slipped across all models the past 5 to 10 years.

They might be desperate but the prices don't reflect it. There are no 40% off MSRP deals going on. Unless you can link me to something, that is outright fantasy.

The 2.7 GM is proven now and a hell of a motor. Hardly junk, and far better than the Tacoma's disaster in their re-design. Again, things have changed in 5-10 years.
