So I watched the whole video. What exactly do you take exception with? He threw no one under the bus and said they would interview and vet every candidate. Isn't that his job, and the job of every other senator, in this process? What attention is he seeking?

That dude from OK is an embarrassment. Seriously, can that state not do better than that?

I haven't lived in Oklahoma for quite a while but from what I remember he was pretty conservative. This isn't what you would expect to hear from him. Makes me wonder if he isn't playing part of some kind of DC game here.

Is OKC or Tulsa up for some new interstate expansions?

I'd be satisfied if the republicans could be competent at being the party in control. They won't and they don't want to be. Lankford is no conservative.
Neither is Trump
Where did I type that he was? Stop being broken.

If someone like Lankford is to the left of Trump...

Give me a comprehensive policy comparison where Lankford is to the left of Trump.

They're there to serve their constitutents. Their constituents voted overwhelmingly for Trump to be their leader.

A lot of us voted against Harris, not for Trump.
And the majority of us don't give a rat's ass that you voted against Harris, not for Trump.

HE WON THE POPULAR VOTE BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS!!

The MAJORITY has spoken and they want Trump to lead this country! Senators need to do their ****ing jobs and be a part of the solution Trump has laid out. Or get the **** out of Congress!
Obama won the popular vote by leaps and bounds - twice. The majority had spoken! Based on your logic - you wanted all his appointments to breeze through unconditionally, too?

Congress needs to rubber stamp what Trump wants?

So does that apply to Biden's congress.
America overwhelmingly voted Biden in. So Congress should just do what he wants right?
The Democrats in Congress did EXACTLY that. They voted in lockstep almost every single time.

Exactly ZERO Democrats voted against any of Biden's nominees.

But, then, the Dems know how to play team ball.

The Republicans are like herding cats.

You think the DEMOCRATS in the Senate voted againt Obama's picks?

I FULLY expect the Dems in the Senate to vote against Trump's picks. But, not the Republicans. And that's what we're discussing here.

That is true. But many of you also voted very specifically against the Beltway-MSM government current running down of the country. Plenty of them made that clear. Many of Joe Rogan's audience are not of the right. And that's just that example.

The people voted against the swamp --- they have the right to a non-swamp cabinet when having so clearly signaled that.
This right here. The political machine that's run the country for the last four years is what I voted against, They've screwed over the economy, over-regulated everything, and completely botched immigration.

This is what I want Trump and his cabinet to fix. Ignore it in favorite of social conservatism stuff and out they go during the midterms. It's their game to lose.

That is my issue.

What is the point in having Congress if they should acquiesce to the President?

I understand your point and at some level agree with it 100%.

However, the Dems NEVER look at it that way. But, unfortunately, the Republicans still do. Which puts the Republicans at a disadvantage when the other side plays by a different set of rules.

I guess I'm just tired of the Republicans always taking the high road and trying to be "statesmanlike" when the Dems are just going to vote 100% in lockstep for Team (D).

I don't want ass kissing, boot licking toadies in the Senate. We have enough of those in government already. Even f16 is eyeballing some of Trump's picks, so why shouldn't the Senate…..it is their job.

You can give "advice and consent" without dragging out a multi-week televised struggle session that only benefits the democrats. The point is for congress to be able to have a check when a president nominates somebody who is clearly unfit for the position either due to corruption, conflict of interest, or some other glaring deficiency. Abusing the process to force the elected president to only nominate the people that congress likes is a contortion of their constitutional responsibility. If Trump were nominating his kids to SCOTUS or something like that, congress would be right to step in and say no.

He is indirectly "vetting" the candidates on a cable news network. He has nothing to say and yet he says a lot.

jrdaustin summed up the real issue in earlier post,

It is how Langford is allowing Dana and CNN's implied narrative to be a given,

Quote:

He's playing along with the charade game of the MSM that the current government is the 'rational' one and that Trump's new government is some sort of extremist move that bears close watching.

That is a lie. And Lankford knows it. So do you. And so do I. Oversight is fine. But NOT at the expense of playing like Biden's government is how it should be done.
He is not at all saying "we don't want it to be like the present one, bad picks unchallenged---he is not challenging any of that narrative, like a weaponized AG -- as if it is not now .
