I think you guys are missing the part where we're trying to avoid having a criminal AG
I love AG Paxton.

Paxton gives zero Fs about the feelings of Soros funded pro-violent criminal Democrats in Texas, and makes the Democrats in Texas cry like babies.

I love how he teamed up with Dan Patrick and Greg Abbott to remove 27 RINOS from the Texas House in the 2024 primaries, and removed 3 RINOs from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (The highest and most powerful criminal court in Texas). The three new Paxton CCA judges (Schenck, Parker, and Finley) are excellent constitutional conservatives. All the new House reps he helped get elected by defeating RINO incumbents are excellent as well. Great grassroots constitutional conservatives like Shelly Luther, Katrina Pierson, Marc LaHood, Matt Morgan, and Mitch Little.

Marc LaHood is a great example of Paxton, Abbott, and Patrick teaming up to defeat a RINO in Steve Allison.

    Not bad; I've seen Paxton's name being mentioned but there's no way he survives the vetting process. Besides, I like him here in Texas, primarily because he dislikes Phelan, but I wouldn't buy a used car from Paxton.

    If Rs retain the Senate after the midterms, then Alito or Thomas retire and Cruz goes to USSC
    Desantis becomes AG for remainder of Trumps's term and possibly carries over for President Vance.

    ATTORNEY GENERAL: Why pick
    @KenPaxtonTX
    over
    @AGAndrewBailey
    ? Here are my thoughts:

    - Andrew has been a lawyer for about the same time Paxton has been Texas Attorney General.
    - Andrew has only been Attorney General of Missouri since last year. Paxton has served three terms.
    - Andrew has sued Biden a dozen times and never won a single case, Paxton has sued Biden 100 times with a 76% win rate.
    - Paxton has been so successful he's been investigated by the Biden FBI and DOJ.
    - The Bush-backed Speaker of the Texas House impeached him - Paxton beat him.

    Andrew is a first year AG with a lot to learn - he's a patriot and has a great career ahead of him, but he's not the battled-test bloodied fighter

    Didn't Paxton get federally indicted for something? Then the impeachment thing last year. Stop nominating people with so much baggage. It's unnecessary.

    The problem with Paxton is that, after being in office for three terms, his top lieutenants turned against him in the impeachment matter. If he can't command loyalty in a smaller office like the state AG's office, how is he going to manage a behemoth like the DOJ? Paxton wins twitter wars, and some folks love that, but there is a lot more to this job than garnering publicity.

    He had to pay $271,000 in restitution and perform community service for his federal charges to get dropped. He's also required to complete legal ethics courses. He was allegedly soliciting private investors for a company without telling people he was being paid by the company.

    The impeachment charges centered around him becoming personally involved to intervene in a case against one of his donors among some other issues in his office. Another accusation of being unethical and he was saved from impeachment due to political pressure.

    I'm pretty sure he was also on camera in an airport stealing someone's very expensive ballpoint pen. I know it's kind of a dumb thing and I chuckle about it but that's something they will show over and over again during any confirmation hearing.

    It's just avoidable. Nominate somebody with some bona fides of going against the Biden and/or administration overreach but who doesn't have the personal baggage. It's really not that hard.

    My pick is me.

    I would instantly implement a Christian Nationalist version of Shariah and have AOC put in a re-education camp for leftists/feminists/etc.

    When she got out, she would voluntarily be wearing red robes along with all the other insolent women from Handmaiden's Tale. I would make this fictional dystopia into a masculine utopia.

    Best name I've heard so far. He knows DC and the agencies well enough to decimate the bad leadership in them.

    No senators (Cruz, Lee etc) are going to leave the senate to be AG, when they might end up being AG for 6 months. Even if they lasted 4 years, then what?

    Maybe if they were offered SCOTUS after cleaning house, but otherwise, why leave a good gig for a temp one?

    Cruz needs to stay exactly where he is. He's got real seniority finally and can actually get things done. Replace him and you empower the RINO's further in the Senate because even if you can find a Ted clone to replace him they will be bottom of the pile in seniority

    Levin would be OK. When I watch his show, I always worry that he's going to have a stroke. He's wound pretty tight, but that could be useful.

    However, I think it will be someone else. We shall see.

    Tend to agree. Levin might be good but he's so caustic in manner, personality wise, not sure he would even want to do it.

    Years ago, I was a party to a case where we had several different teams of lawyers working for us. The amount of time I had to spend just to keep them all on task and not sniping at each other was considerable and took finesse.

    And in case you haven't noticed, I can have my excitable moments but can also be a smoothing moderator. Much more so than I have ever seen from Levin. Just not seeing it. If Trump wants Levin for something, ask if he'd like a federal judgeship. He'd be an excitable judge but follow the law and keep order in his courtroom.
