How is it Biden can unilaterally make a ROE change with our weapons that is an act of war against another sovereign nuclear power without approval of congress!

This is by all means a declaration of war against Russia. Yet no one seems to even care and Putin is threatening to start nuking western nations.

Providing arms to a country that was invaded by another country is an act of war, lol.

I'm not getting caught up in the Ukraine/Russia theatrics, but just on its own merit, that statement is ridiculous.

It's in the same spirit of "you have a duty to retreat" in your own home if someone invades before you can use deadly force.

Toughen up buttercup.

Non-judicial matter, beyond the review of the courts. POTUS has clear foreign policy decision making authority, as well. House and Senate won't lift a finger to stop this.

Yes, yes. Damned fools, highway to nuclear apocalypse, WW3 and all that jazz. I know, I know. No need to repeat yourself in response.

Yep. It's the only logical answer. Sadly.

1st Biden didn't give the orders
2nd US isn't actually attacking (Ukraine is)
3rd even if the US was attacking another country the House hasn't declared war since WWII

You want to pin a "gotcha moment" on Biden with this? Really?

I'm not trying to gotcha Biden. But his recent decision is another provocation. Which Putin has said he will respond by using nuclear weapons.

Congress requiring to declare war was suppose to prevent a single person from escalating the entire country into a war.

We recently told Ukraine they can use the long range missiles to strike inside Russia. Which is an escalation.

Putin isn't my bro. However I can see past the false dichotomy that you must choose either Ukraine or Russia. There is a third option. Neither are good giys. Both Zelenski and Putin are psychopaths and tbe Untied states has nothing to gain but a tremendous amount to lose.

Are we willing to play Russian roulette with millions of Americans lives? Personally I'm uncomfortable playing chicken with a psychopath.

Does anyone have wisdom anymore?

Putin isn't a psychopath. He's a very intelligent, narcissistic, and highly nationalistic world leader with classical Russian behavioral traits. He's a bully on the world stage and preys on the weak. But he also truly loves russia. One thing he isn't is a suicidal maniac. He isn't going to vaporize himself or Russia over Ukraine or even losing military assets to longer range weapons that can't even reach Moscow.

So if somebody comes across my property line, into my house, kills a bunch of my family, and I shoot back across the property line into their house... that's an escalation?

Beyond laughable.

Calling it an escalation is just a form of appeasement. And when you appease aggression, you get more aggression. The way to stop aggression is to smack it back in the face hard. Again and again, as long as it takes.

Reference point: Just look at the Israelis and Hamas/Hezbollah/Iran. We can see how that is trending, and the aggressors are running for the exits... those who are lucky enough to still breathe oxygen.

Another false dichotomy. "If you don't kill Russians and seek peace you're giving into Putin"

There's more means that just killing people and escalating a war to bring Russia to the negotiating table"

For example: what would have happened if we subsidized natural gas with the billions to Ukraine and flooded the European market with absurdly cheap NG??
That's just for starters.

But again so many are stuck in false dichotomies.

The off ramp is Putin and Zelenskyy agreeing to a deal. But both sides need to be pressured to the table. BOTH of them.

So you ignore the fact there are other means to inflict serious pressure on Putin without having to kill people and just resort to "Putin bros" name calling?

I think Trump is going to bring more to the table than "I will kill Russians" like so many of y'all advocate for.

Trump will bring several things to threaten, and reward, Putin and Zelenskyy. But Trump also knows than men like Putin respect power, and those who sometimes choose to wield it. Remember, Trump did say that if Russia refuses to negotiate he would arm Ukraine to the teeth.

Most of Europe has already stopped purchasing LNG from Russia. Tanking the cost/demand will have no impact whatsoever on Russia's calculus in this war.

The only way to pressure Putin is to raise the specter of doubt that he could conceivably end up with a worse outcome if the war persists as opposed to negotiating in good faith.

Putin will not be interested in serious negotiation if he feels like he can achieve a superior outcome by continuing on his current course. Otherwise he'll insist on nothing less that what amounts to a negotiated victory which gives him greater gains than he has managed to consolidate at this point.

Putin made his first nuclear threat like two weeks into the invasion and many times since. It's a non starter at this point. I know you freak out on everything he does and rush to make a thread in panic every time but come on.
