From what I'm seen of various guys talking about it, the Afghan withdrawal was a failure of the State department, not the military. I would need to find the video I saw of Mike Glover explaining how the Military would run a withdrawal like that versus how the State department screwed it all up.

Not a fan of witch hunts.

There needs to be a witch hunt for this disaster. Burn 'em all.

And it's fantastic. I hope the next four years for them is the absolute worst. Jobs lost, people in prison and some headed to hell because of old age.

I actually assumed it would have been lumped together but you are largely right. I am not sure the final breakdown of orders though. The pullout and the ridiculous and completely arbitrary timeline was on the Biden admin. That's a known. How that shaped out though to the end is where the nuance lies like you say. The big mistakes were the colossal equipment caches left behind and the abandonment of Bagram so early. Which that is where I honestly have no idea if that was State or Mil. And so on and so on.

Either way, the zero, and I mean zero accountability that came from that disaster legitimately kept me up at night for several nights I was that incensed. It may be late, but to see that this may be revisited at all makes me happy.

Hopefully this comment is satire.

If not the brass that denied Sgt. Tyler Vargas authority to shoot 3X, 100 % needs to be court martialed.

Then those who sacked the Astan commander Scotty should also be heavily looked at.

What the United States military was able to do over the period of those several days in Kabul with the logistics of evacuating so many people via long range cargo planes and everything that entails was freaking impressive. The airlift was a remarkable achievement and there's not a single other country in the world that could have pulled that off.

They should have never handed over Bagram. Not sure if that was a DOD decision.

And the CIA people lied to Congress multiple times about the strength of the Afghan Army. They lied about the grift and they knew the Afghan Army was going to fold like a cheap tent as soon as we pulled out. Congress kept approving more money for afghani army equipment, our intelligence Services knew that money was being pissed away and stolen, yet never informed Congress. If you want to court marshall people go after the high level intelligence officers.

That's how all american military operations have gone since Vietnam.

Congress knows this. They didn't need to be told by our intelligence services because congress knows before the operations are underway that the grift is the point of the operation.

And that is why congress gets paid big bucks by the MIC to fund these wars and military actions. The money and equipment has to get stolen, lost, misplaced, and be unaccounted for..

That is how everyone gets paid.

We need to take that damn "trophy" hilux or Range Rover we jammed onto the last plan and put that thing at the bottom of the Indian Ocean. If the generals in charge of the operation want it that bad, they can swim for it.

If due diligence is done, and it's found that what was done was illegal, then whoever called the shots should be held accountable.

If the generals were found to be following orders, orders that aren't found to be illegal, then if those generals are still court-martialed because a president (Trump) is mad at them for what they did when he wasn't president, then wouldn't that make precedence for the next president to do the same to his generals if they don't like what they did?

It seems like a very slippery slope.

I think what's getting lost in all of this is the message it sends. This withdrawal makes us look weak and without a backbone, which is the case when liberals are in charge. Even if Trump wanted out, you have to get out the right way as long as the other side agrees to terms.

To me, using this issue the way that he is does the following:

1) Sends an unequivocal message to our enemies that this administration means what it says and will follow through.
2) Boosts troop morale. When they know the guy at the top has their back, the patriotism and loyalty to our country and what we stand for will be at an all time high.
3) Helps recruiting efforts. Sends the message that the old admin is gone, and it's a troop first mindset.
4) The right pigs will squeal.

Literally nothing could come of the actual investigation, and it may not, but it will be a MASSIVE win for our country if it can accomplish the above objectives.
