Hundreds of millions of Americans risk experiencing power shortages this winter if weather conditions are harsh, according to a new report published by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), a power grid watchdog.

Nearly all residents of the Northeast, Texas and Midwest could face energy shortfalls in the event of a colder-than-usual winter, the NERC report states. The lack of grid reliability is driven largely by growing electricity demand as well as the replacement of coal-fired and older natural gas-fired generators with energy-limited resources such as solar power.

Get woke, grid broke. Too much emphasis on green energy may finally break the grid's back this winter. Pray for the best. Stay warm y'all.

Trump will fix it.

We hear this every damn year now.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

On the bright side, Texas is located in the heart of the single most green energy friendly region in the world. So long term life will suck way less here than anywhere else.

Isn't it supposed to be a mild winter across the south this year?

Should be our last winter in the Rockies before we head southeast to a retirement community. Love the area but our old bones are ready for warm weather.

hope the NE has to rely on their windfarms and solar energy this winter so they understand the ramifications of their stupid decisions/

Care to share any specs? Gas, natural gas, diesel? Did you pay for full install? What was all in price (if you're comfortable sharing)

Yes. Mid-Novenber and the lowest temp we have had overnight was in the upper 40s, for one night. Last night.

Still was in the upper 70s today.

It was 60 today in Phoenix and supposed to be 42 in the morning. So much for global warming.

Being outspoken and participating in elections is how you change this, alot of the "green" energy sources are subsidized so much, they can make money in very hard markets, unlike conventional thermal generation.

I know. But all it takes is two bad weeks to freeze those windmills up.

Thanks for the information. How many days will the in ground generator power the house before needing refilled tank?

We have several of these and used them a couple times before getting a whole home generator. Great cheap insurance and great for outdoor activities like kids sports or hunting. They use the one pound bottles which I keep 10 or so of and you can also get a hose and special adapter to connect to regular 5 gallon propane tanks.
