And what is all Us media? Propaganda for the Us state as well. You can't trust any legacy media source. But you're picking and choosing and wanting one of them to tell you it's real before you accept it. There's a word for that.

There's a distinct difference to what US media is and what RT and Tass are they aren't even close to the same thing.

TASS literally stands for Telegrafnoye agentstvo Sovetskogo Soyuza (Telegraph of the Soviet Union) and has remained a state government owned media service. It's roots are defined in Russian state media support and allegiance. It's what it is. It's literally a government mouthpiece.

Russia Today is owned by RIA Novosti, which is another former Soviet news agency that is government funded and owned. Putin himself even brought most of their post Soviet operations under government purvey once agian. It's literally the Russian government.

It's not like legacy media at all.

They also had another agreement settled on during the turkey negiotatons that we torpedo.

And you still conveniently ignore the fact that Zelenski was bombing out the area that is disputed since 2014. Killing Ukrainians. But now all of a sudden the area is sooooo important that another million or two million Ukrainians and billions upon billions of dollars much be spent to protect it?

If the war is such a necessity as you claim you should go over there and fight for Ukraine.

Good.

Can't wait to see the heads explode here when Trump continues it if Putin doesn't play nice.
There are other ways to support Ukraine without emptying the treasury. For starters, Trump's energy policy should make oil prices go down. Shrinking a large part of the way Russia is funding this war. It might actually end it if Russia can't afford it.
"Emptying the Treasury". That's comical.

We're broke, there's nothing in the f'ng treasury but borrowed money.
Total spending on Ukraine for 2024 was $61.3 billion.

That amounts to 0.907% of federal spending for 2024.

Annual spending on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and interest on the debt (mandatory spending) account for the entirety of the tax revenue the US brings in annually. That means that every penny of the money it takes to fund the actual day-to-day operations of the government (i.e. what people think of as what the government "does") has to be borrowed.

The irony is that the actual functions of the government are now completely considered "discretionary".

If the entire US federal government ceased operations beyond mandatory spending for an entire year, we would not save a penny.

We don't have a government. We have a retirement/healthcare plan with a sizeable interest payment also.

Spending is the problem, but it isn't spending on Ukraine.

Mandatory spending (SS, Medicare, Medicaid) has to be addressed. There is no possible way that "cutting waste, bureaucracy and regulations" is going to make a dent in the spending crisis in facing the US government.

And Trump's only statement with regard to any mandatory spending item is that he wants to make SS tax free.

That's a revenue cut, not a spending cut.

"Well, it's a start."

No, it's not. Any discussion about fixing spending that does not start with significant changes to mandatory (i.e. entitlement) spending is utterly and completely worthless for anything other than cheap meaningless political points.

As much as I hate that spending, it is spent on Americans. The slush fund in Ukraine is only spent on Americans once it is laundered and the corrupt politicians get their cut. It is theft, plain and simple.

So, by your own link's admission, there was no signed peace treaty. Glad you admit that now.

Also...

Quote:

Russia was ready to end the war and withdraw its troops in exchange for Ukrainian neutrality just a few months after the invasion began and was refused partly because of ex-British PM Boris Johnson, who pressured Kyiv into continuing the fight,
So not THE reason, and not even Blinken, as you claimed.

Quote:

Furthermore, Aramahiya noted, such an agreement would have needed to modify the constitution first (since it contains the desire to join NATO). The third point was that Kyiv didn't trust Moscow to hold up its end of the bargain and not invade againespecially not without international security guarantees.

You don't say? Russia can't be trusted. Imagine that.

And what you don't say either is that AFTER this meeting Ukraine went on to a counteroffensive and retook Kherson, Kharkiv, and 60% of the land that Russia gained in their initial invasion. All those lands freed from Russian occupation. Land and people that would have been lost forever under your "signed peace treaty."

Ukrainians are still Ukrainian because of Zelennsky. They don't hate him at all.

A good portion of the spending on Ukraine in 2024 is via the Presidential drawdown authority which allows the president to draw down existing supplies of DoD equipment to be sent to Ukraine. That equipment is subsequently replaced by US suppliers to the military. We get rid of old equipment, send it to Ukraine, and replace it with new, updated equipment that employs US citizens.

Your assumption of Ukraine being a "slush fund" is just that, an assumption, and would be related to the monies sent to Ukraine to assist in the continuing of their government operations, rather than the military equipment/hardware being sent to directly assist their military (which is the majority of the assistance that has been sent).

Would you tell that to the French that supported the American Revolution, or the Americans that supported the Texas Revolution?

Or is someone only a "war mongerer" if they support a war you don't like?

I've found that when trying to cut spending at home and work, it's easiest to drop the little things. They add up.

I think Ukraine has suckled on our teat long enough. Hopefully Trump cuts up the Ukraine ATM card...

That could've been put to better use here for Americans. Lest we forget this country is in 38T+ in debt. You must be really well off to think that billions is a mere drop in the bucket. Congratulations.

Yes. To anyone. A war is worth fighting or it's not.

We've become detached from the reality of war. Too many war mongerers and too few paying the price of those wars.

Funny side note, we got into a naval war with the French for a few years after the revolutionary war. Started from us not paying the debt to the French for their services.

Yes. And money to replace equipment for our military should be budgeted as such so it is properly reviewed and we can spend with discretion. This continues to be a blank check that Americans overwhelmingly oppose. Our government is supposed to provide for OUR defense. The Constitution fails to mention Ukraine. Maybe it was just an oversight.

Then take it up with Trump. The president who first authorized legal aid to Ukraine and the guy that gave Johnson the go ahead to approve this latest aid package.

If someone is a bad at something and receives criticism from others directly effected by it, they can avoid that to focus on what they are good at or learn from the constructive criticism. Claiming they are being personally attacked and insulted is a weak redirect when their stance is clearly harming others.

But to each their own if they want to continue trolling and not take advice from their peers.

What a strange thing to celebrate, luckily there's a zero percent chance this happens. Ukrainians know they wouldn't exist as a country if Zelenskyy had surrendered the way the isolationist far right internet experts think they should have. Instead they'll end up keeping the majority of their country intact once they decide on terms.

Quote:

According to the survey results released on Oct. 14, 59 per cent of Ukrainians polled hold "trust" in Zelensky while 37 per cent distrust the president. Another 3 per cent of poll respondents were unsure. The results are virtually unchanged from another KIIS survey released in May 2024 and down from a 2024 high of 64 per cent in February.

Thinking Zelensky is hated in Ukraine is just wishcasting.

I can guarantee that Trump will at least try to stop it. I'm sure that will crush you and the forever war types.

Trump will try to get in a deal in place to freeze the war along current lines. That will end the need for large weapons packages. It's the best thing for everyone.

If Putin doesn't play along then Trump, as he has said, will arm Ukraine to the teeth.
