You know, most of the time Cruz really IS the smartest guy in the room, but for too long he really wanted people to understand and acknowledge that.

We need to keep the pressure on as a populace. They are elected by popular vote so they need to be treated like representatives. If they want the traditional insulation from popular scrutiny they need to be assigned by the states per the founders' intentions.

At this point I'd rather send Ted to SCOTUS or get him primaried by a MAGA conservative.

Cruz probably not too happy with the establishment for not helping him during the campaign.

A lot of Republicans can't be happy with how the Senate campaign arm in general performed this year.

Lake and Brown were incredibly underfunded and who knows what would have happened if they had actually gotten off their ass and tried to help them.

CRUZ!!!!

No surprise here. And no TexAgs91, Cruz did not have to be pressured!

(As Sen. Kennedy said, that list of Senate vote was as real as Elvis being alive and running a beach stand on Lake Erie.)

I think it's because of that email I sent to him demanding he announce his support of Rick Scott. You are all welcome.

Cruz is literally the guy who got Scott to run the first time. If Cruz is a RINO I guess I am too. If you can't see that this was rumors started by people that hate Cruz and are is about the battle for influence you really don't understand the game. Next up will be Rand Paul is really a tax and spend liberal. I mean Cruz has been fighting the RINOs and McConnell and Cornyn literally since Day 1 in the Senate.

I think the two biggest negatives that Cruz has is exactly his need for validation of his intelligence, and simply, his punchable face. He always looks like he's smelled a fart, similar to Jason Kidd :-)

Well it's like the wild animal that eventually becomes "domesticated". Ted's been there for 12 years now, and it's almost hard to remember what a rabble-rouser he was when he first got there. He's been domesticated into an establishment Republican, it seems.

My point was more about how the Senate has operated in the past. Thune and Cornyn are longtime deputies to McConnell. And being in leadership for so long, plus seniority in tenure over the years, the move up was more often than not a no brainer and fully expected.

So in that respect, going for Scott is out of the norm. Which is not a bad thing, just surprising.

He was pressured to make a public comment about a private vote? Pressured by Trump? He just won re-election.

Oh, you mean the fake list put out by an unnamed source that Sen Kennedy laughed about as being ridiculous?

Yeah that's a big deal. I didn't think Cruz would be willing to publicly depart from his Texas peer, as he actually has been as collegial as possible with him for various reasons (think political machine in texas, and inversely he's been very critical of Mitch over the years to the point it jeopardized Ted's re-election a couple times).

Yeah, after I heard that I figured it was about as credible as the Seltzer Iowa poll.

Hell hath no fury like a scorned establishment Republican. Get ready for some sabotage from the inside if Cornyn and Thune aren't picked.

have we really become this sad as a society?

Ted Cruz, with an impeccable record, needs to be primaried because some nobody on X made up a story?

Neither did I. Going for Thune while dissing his peer Cornyn, the juice wouldn't be worth the squeeze, so to speak.

Going for Scott, Trump's preference? Especially if Scott wins? That's the calculation there.

Eh I think that is a harsh view. I think some of it is posturing. There seems to be a desire to create the optics of MAGA just won't be stopped. This "controversy" will create another MAGA victory which will further boost the image of the movement.

So.e really odd "Cruz isn't conservative enough" posts on here. Without checking posting histories, I'm assuming these are disingenuous.

completely agree without point here.

if Scott wins this, that is a sure fire sign the tide is turning.

Cruz voted Scott last time also, so his vote is no surprise. But if Scott wins? now that could be a sea change in the senate

Also can people please stop the doom and gloom. You were wrong in the primary. You were wrong in the the buildup to the election. You were wrong in the election. Just for once actually wrestle with your pessimism.

Michael Berry is talking out his rear on this!

Cruz has ALWAYS been a Scott backer. Why in the hell would he switch to Thune? It makes no sense! Stop falling for fake news!!
