I hope she was brought in to break it down into a fraction of it's size. Remove FEMA from it. Turn in a 90% reduced budget. Cut the department from within so it is done quietly.

don't like this move. Border would be under homeland security. Not sure she will take the heat for all that needs to be done. Need a border state person in that role.

Why do you hate Border Patrol, Customs, ICE, CSI, etc….. at a time when their services are about to be heavily used?

I think our new Border Czar bulldog , although not a secretary position, will basically handle the borders leaving Noem to deal with other issues under the HSS. FEMA for one..

You clearly have no idea what DHS is currently responsible for. ICE, CBP, Secret Service, TSA, and Coast Guard are the major functions, but also CISA (cybersecurity and infrastructure security). You can want these programs to be improved and perhaps made more efficient, but comments like yours make it hard for people to take arguments to reduce spending seriously.

I think she know how the Swamp operates. She was a Rep for 8 years, but I don't think she's particularly conservative (lifetime Heritage score of 58) and I have doubts she really wants to drain it/clean it up.
