I wonder if this is strategic to help push through some of Trump's judge picks. Rubio's been in the game a while and can help grease the wheels on many things.

But will Rubio be the first Latino SoS?

It will probably take a good many folks that this board considers "RINOs" to turn this thing around.

I agree with this. I've never despised Rubio or anything but he's a middle tier senator. He's not pure neocon these days.

And I agree with the sentiment above, we only have so many Mike Lees, Massies, Cruz, or Pauls. Those guys are all 90s. Rubio is a 65. Scott is about a 65 too. Cornyn is a 45. Romney/Cheney are 15s.

While I'd love a government filled with Ron Paul, Dave Smith, Michael Malice, Tulsi, and Scott Hortons, it's not realistic.

I've been following him for a while and I think he's been on Rogan 4 or so times but he was retweeted by DJT Jr so his profile is rightly on the rise.

If you want a real feel for him, look up his debate with Chris Cuomo. Well worth the time.

Rubio is a pretty vanilla conservative so it would be an easy confirm. Rubio seemed like an up and comer in 2015 but Christie stuck him in the penalty box for a decade with his robotic debate performance.

He is probably ready for a bigger job.

Ready to see this country turned around by whatever means this administration can use to do so? Absolutely.

I don't hate Marco as SOS. He's a moderate, especially from a domestic policy standpoint. Trump can move the senate to the right slightly, by appointing Marco to his cabinet, so long as he's replaced by the right person.

From a foreign policy standpoint, he's been solid. A bit of a hawk, but Trump seems to like to have a dog on a chain in more than one position like SOS and secretary of defense.

Marcos strength will be his knowledge and focus on Central America. Cuba is in a precarious position. Their electrical grid is failing and Russia isn't in a spot to bail them out. Venezuela couldn't be more of a dumpster fire. Mexico is in a full blown state of war between the cartels.

We need to focus on our backyard, and he'll be a good man to do just that.

I think Rubio will do what he is told at State, and yes I expect RDS to make a fantastic appointment. I am curious what happens with his slot at the intelligence swamp committee. The Intelligence apparatus will inevitably create some charges/drama against Trump.

And Trump doesn't need everyone to be in perfect lock step with him. He needs people that he respects that will give a alternate view at times.

I think that Rubio has the type of diplomat personality that can do that.

One of Trump's failures in that last tenure was that if anyone dared disagree with them he fired them and insulted him.

I think it is a good choice. He certainly supported Trump.

But then again, he may not want to run the risk that Donalds follows him as Governor. So you never can tell what goes in to this calculation.
