About Rubio? He was never my favorite or cup of tea but I also never put him in the Romney/McCain type of camp.

I mean, he's been a lot closer to that camp than the Trump camp.

Byron Donalds told massive lies about Desantis during the primary and took Kamala's side on a massive lie.

What's this about?

Who knows but look who posted it.
Wesley Hunt, Byron Donalds, John James, and Tim Scott took Kamala's side when she said "Desantis is in favor of teaching that slavery was a good thing".

That was a massive lie.

Go look it up.

It was national news for a whole month.

He gives me a weak person sense and is just playing the political game. He debated like a whiny little female dog when he tried to run for POTUS. I cannot recall anything of significance that leads me to think he is on the same leadership caliber as someone like T. Homan, the new border czar. I am open to being sold on him, but I have never had a good feeling about him.

I don't agree. Once he got flattened in the 2016 primary he pretty much fell in line.

This is a diplomat position. You don't want a bulldog in this spot. You want someone who can gain trust of foreign adversaries, deliver the message of the administration effectively, and play politics. I think he'll do fine.

I think Trump foreign policy is set in stone and obvious to everyone, he just needs someone to be the messenger. America under Trump will state the line and punch you in the face if you cross it. Rubio will have a shot at it and has been a good surrogate on the campaign.

I mean, if falling in line means voting with the rest of the republicans during Trump's first term, that's something you can literally say about 95% of Rep senators. Pretty low bar. That doesn't really say much about his actual idealogical leaning, to the extent he genuinely has one.

If he "fell in line" after he got his ass whipped on 2016, then the best thing you can say about him is he's faking it.

Rubio since about mid 2022 has been much much better.

His speech against Biden and Kamala's Green New Deal (which was called the Inflation Reduction Act) was great.

Why do you think he's faking it? He likely realized his future ambitions as a public servant were never going to be as president so he moved on with his life. He hasn't exactly been in hiding the last 8 years. He's still a more prominent GOP senator than most.

All I'm saying is his true idealogical nature is not MAGA or anything really close to it. If he acts in a manner under Trump that renders that irrelevant, that's great.

I would have preferred Grinnel. Rubio did have a great moment or two in the 2016 primary.
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Fair enough. Though I'd say MAGA doesn't really have an ideological nature to it via policy. It's a populist message and I hope and expect this term to be much different (for the better) to put an actual stamp on MAGA and what Trump wants to do for the country.

Theres no need to go talk a big game. The public did that with the election. So avoid petty nonsense and just go to work delivering results. I think Rubio is a solid choice for that role in that type of administration.

I don't think he genuinely agrees with a lot of Trump's agenda, as evidenced by the vast majority of his life on earth.

Whether or not he acts in a way that's consistent with that is a different question. He is a politician after all. So it may (hopefully) be irrelevant. We shall see.

Not everyone is going to mindlessly pretend every pick Trump makes is amazing on its face just for the sake team sports politics. Let's not be like Reddit.

Should pick Greg Steube (95% Liberty Score and 95% Heritage score), Joseph Ladapo, Ashley Moody, or Casey Desantis.

Byron Donalds told massive lies about Desantis during the primary and took Kamala's side on a massive lie.

Taking Kamala's side on that lie about Desantis during the primary is disqualifying for Wesley Hunt, Byron Donalds, John James, and Tim Scott.

I can never trust those four again because they proved they will tell the worst lies about the most effective conservative political operator in modern US history just for political power and access.

https://heritageaction.com/scorecard/members/S001214/117

https://libertyscore.conservativereview.com/gregory-steube/
This. I could live with Donalds as Senator but I will never trust any of those 4. I do think this creates a domino though. I wonder if there are some other side deals going on, it does give DeSantis some leverage with Trump.

This is a pretty meh pick to me. Rubio is a solid Senator and Trump had a lot of options here.
