Sorry guys, but as one who spent a majority of their career proofing labels for allergens, this is a big deal, and it's just part of required government labeling.

First, there are 9 major allergens that must be listed properly on the label. Milk is one of those allergens. Cream is a component of milk, so it must be listed as such. I know it's crazy. Just look at a container of heavy cream next time you're in the grocery store…the listed allergen is milk.

This should have been caught way upstream….it is a stupid mistake.

It's butter! EVERYONE knows butter contains milk products. If they're looking for non milk products they're buying margarine or some other vegetable oil spread.

This is like forgetting to put a 'this product contains nuts' label on a pecan pie or jar of peanut butter.

One can be allergic to tree nuts but not peanuts

The point is that pecan pie doesn't need a label, nor does peanut butter. The label is redundant just like butter and cheese are milk products and saying it contains milk is also redundant.

Well, if you think putting a label that says may contain nuts on a jar of pb is right, well. Tree nuts and peanuts are not in the same family.
