As a Generation X member this is so spot on. Typically takes us longer to get motivated to be active but once we do we tend to take the attitude of "clearly you all had your chance and can't get this fixed so we are taking over". We can be very understanding and willing to accept differences and take an approach of to each their own. But don't tell us how to think and at some point you cross a line. That line was crossed.
Agreed. 100%

Gen X being conservative is a fantastic trend and gives me hope for the future of the country . Glad to see it. Glad to see anyone seeing the real truth and acting accordingly . I can't speak to why boomers aren't more conservative than they are. I'm only responsible for me and I have always been conservative and believed in traditional American values . There are a bunch of boomers that think along the same lines I do wrt American politics but there are certainly some that don't.

Gen X is the first generation to straddle the analog/digital divide. We can operate a VCR and update our iPhone to 18.X (beta) We can see through the mainstream BS being pushed on television and also take podcasts with a grain of salt and not "God's honest truth!"

We just wanted to be left alone with our latch key and water hose water and behind warehouse keggers! But when the Shiz gets real...Gen X fixes it! We hopefully have taught that to our kids. I personally see a HUGE conservative (back to center at least) swing in my children and their friend group at large. They are tired of being told they are this or that "identity" and are a victim of something...anything.

Gen X...flipping the bird to the system till we die!

Most cohort breakdowns show Boomers extend to 1964 which means to say that 65+ does not define boomers. I could go with 60+. You characterization of Boomers by the ages on this chart is incorrect.

Gen X is paying heavy taxes.. Boomers are on retirement income so they don't have as much at stake, and want more government Medicare funding... Social Security... you know... hand outs.

A lot of boomers prefer their politics polite. Trump is too confrontational for a lot of them IMHO.

They must have bought into the Harris lies about Trump cutting SS. Nobody currently on SS is getting anything cut.

Now, Trump might try to do something with retirement age, etc... Something has to be done because we are paying over $1 trillion in interest on the debt now.

Is it possible deaths from COVID affected the Boomer vote for Trump? I heard from a lot of former high school classmates who had a parent die or hospitalized from COVID. Higher risk boomer democrats probably stayed home, got vaccinated if they were high risk, etc. I know COVID in general was overblown but not for older folks.

Boomers don't start at 65. The youngest boomers are barely 60. Graph doesn't exactly match generational boundaries. That's not to say that the middle of the boomer generation wasn't full of dirty hippies, however.

Perhaps somewhat, but the virus was most deadly to people older than the Baby Boomers. The Greatest Generation and the Silent Generation are the ages the virus was most dangerous to.

You're welcome from me, too. I wonder - did the children of Gen X, who would be Millenials for early Gen-X and Zoomers for later Gen-X, vote Trump. My two millenials and one zoomer certainly did, along with their wives.

All of mine did.

We were the last generation to grow up w/o technology, grew up more independently than most (helicopter parents really didn't exist), and remember what it was like in the 80's/90's before the world went to crap. Plus our kids were affected by Covid restrictions, DEI insanity as they try to start their adult lives, etc. We said enough!

I applaud the GenX vote. But this isn't so much a testament to generational character as a function of where they are in their life-cycle.

Gen X is at peak earnings. They have their homes, their kids are growing/grown. Society and media has lurched left from their cultural formulation. Of course we should expect them to vote right.

I'm actually quite impressed with GenZ men. They are smelling through the BS at a much higher rate than the previous generations of young men.
Gen X has always leaned right more than other generations. We grew up in the Reagan years and saw the end of the Cold War. Looks like Gen Z is very split with males being very conservative and females being very liberal, biggest divergence in gender voting of any generation.

She's 3 months shy (Born Oct. 1964) of being an official Gen X'r and likely carries characteristics more akin to us than the average Boomer.

That said, as a stereotypical Gen X kid born in '73 with a latchkey in hand & divorced parents to boot.... NO! We will not have you Kamala in office or in our generation.

You're welcome. The trouble is we're also a tiny demographic comparatively. We're gonna need the millennials and GenZ to get their stuff together.

Gen Z seems to be in a much better place than my fellow Millennials were at that age. This is just anecdotal, but I've noticed many of my Millennial friends who were once liberal starting to shift to the right as they approach their mid-30s. Most of them aren't exactly subtle about their political shift, either haha.

You are welcome, America!

This isn't just about life stage. This is a generation that grew up with freedom and independence, and the stomach turning actions of our government regarding covid mandates, regarding free speech, and regarding running our country over with illegal aliens turns our stomach more than most
