In a new interview from yesterday, Trump talked about several members of his former cabinet. Some quotes are below.

"John Kelly was a stupid person. He was a stiff."

"John Kelly was a man of rather low intelligence, who was a tough guy, who became a marshmallow. At the end, the guy couldn't even talk.

"Esper was a very weak person. Weak and ineffective."

"Mattis was a just guy who couldn't get it done."

"Milley was a total dope."

Some comments made by his first cabinet:

Bill Barr, his second Attorney General, said, "Someone who engaged in that kind of bullying about a process that is fundamental to our system and to our self-government shouldn't be anywhere near the Oval Office."

Gen James Mattis, his first Secretary of Defense, said, "Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people does not even pretend to try. Instead he tries to divide us."

Mark Esper, his second Secretary of Defense, said, "I think he's unfit for office. … He puts himself before country. His actions are all about him and not about the country. And then, of course, I believe he has integrity and character issues as well."

Gen Mark Milley, his chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said, "We don't take an oath to a wannabe dictator. We take an oath to the Constitution and we take an oath to the idea that is America and we're willing to die to protect it."

Rex Tillerson, his first Secretary of State, said, "His understanding of global events, his understanding of global history, his understanding of US history was really limited. It's really hard to have a conversation with someone who doesn't even understand the concept for why we're talking about this."

Gen HR McMaster, his second National Security Advisor, said, "We saw the absence of leadership, really anti-leadership, and what that can do to our country."

John Bolton, his third National Security Advisor, said, "I believe they (foreign leaders) think he is a laughing fool."

Gen John Kelly, his second Chief of Staff, said, "A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law. There is nothing more that can be said. God help us."

Mike Mulvaney, his third Chief of Staff, said, "I quit because I think he failed at being the president when we needed him to be that."

Betsy DeVos, his Secretary of Education, said, "When I saw what was happening on January 6 and didn't see the president step in and do what he could have done to turn it back or slow it down or really address the situation, it was just obvious to me that I couldn't continue."

Elaine Chao, his Secretary of Transportation, said, "At a particular point the events were such that it was impossible for me to continue, given my personal values and my philosophy.

If elected, how good do you think Trump's new cabinet will be? Do you think we will see similar comments from his second cabinet that we have seen from his first over the past seven years? My guess is we will see these behavioral trends continue because his managerial and leadership styles are so different than what Washington is use to.

First, I do think we will see some differences. I think the first go around he kept some of the status quo because he was learning on the job. After not only having 4 years in office, but then having the last 4 years to reflect, I think we'll see him do more of what he believes to be correct and even less of the DC way.

Second, I agree with you that part of the reason we've seen this is related to him having a DC outsider style. I think the other part is a large portion of media actively looking to publicize anything that might be seen as a negative for Trump. I recently hear that Biden had a 92% turnover rate for appointed (I assumed cabinent) positions. Yes we don't hear about these people or have media members constantly trying to get dirty laundry aired.

Several of them are making huge sums of money working for people who want Democrats in office. They are conflicted.

Several of them are war hawks that have no problem being in the Middle East forever.

I can do a similar list for Harris and her staffers that don't have either of the conflicts from above.

The 92% figure was Trump's turnover rate of senior-ranking advisers in the executive office of the president, which does not include cabinet secretaries. Biden's is 71%

Trump's cabinet turnover rate was 24%. Biden's is 9%. Bush had a rate of 30%, and Obama 20%.

Turnover is not Trump's problem with his cabinet.

He'd have a 90% hit rate if he brought on Ron D and his team, no? Sprinkle in Elon, Ramaswamy, Tulsi and RFK, Jr and stuff could get fixed.

Washington DC cling-ons need not apply; with the exception of maybe Comer and Jim Jordan, maybe.

He said numerous times on his podcast interviews that he made the wrong hires early on because he had a lot of "experienced" people in his ear that he listened to. They were not necessarily rolling early on a transition team either. This time around he has already begun the process of vetting and selecting who he wants in each role.

I also think Don Jr (who got ridiculed) out the gate for the Vance choice will be there to help. He has had some good instincts in helping his dad.

I just want some of this. Trump's job would be easier if he just killed the "Department of XXX" rather than picking a head to be on his cabinet.

I heard that 92% figure on the radio and I thought it was related related to Biden/Harris turnover. I did not pull that from Brookings but I'm not sire where the radio folks got that figure. Regardless of the accuracy of that number, I still believe part of the reason is because Trump kept some DC insiders instead of cleaning house and picking only those loyal to him, part of it is him being a DC outsider, and part of it is the legacy media continually working on formerly in the Trump administration to dig up dirt. I think the first item will change, but the others as well as his abraisive personality will not change.

After looking through that exhaustive list by the OP trying to convince me how awful Trump is, I see nothing in that entire screen that tells me Harris will be a more competent or capable leader, or will actually be making ANY decisions on her own if she is ultimately elected.

For me, I still prefer a CEO who has control and will be a decision maker over a proxy for an unelected, invisible cabal that has control and writes the daily talking points for the POTUS to say.

Furthermore, I still prefer a POTUS who will get and will face scrutiny from the media overs POTUS who has full cover from the media and will only seek out friendly press that will ask the pre-approved questions.

TBH, the OP's post only confirms to me that Trump is the proper decision in this election. If he again steps on a few toes in the process, so be it.

I think Trump was expecting the Republicans to get on board with breaking up the political establishment that has completely taken over DC. To that end he appointed people that knew their way around DC expecting them to do what he asked them to do only to find out later that they were beholden to the establishment not to the Constitution, never mind his administration.

I think this time we're going to see him roll with as many outsiders as he can.
