Apparently this chick is the first of several who are in trouble for taking bribes to fake car titles. From this video, they may want to check under her clothes for hidden cash as there may be some stuffed up in there. I wonder how much of this stuff goes on in the big populated counties with lots of sleazy car lots.

Maybe that's why we never got the title to our car after paying off the loan. They were too busy making fakes.

We still haven't gone through the process to get one. It's stupid onerous, like anything gov't.

The lienholder should have mailed it directly to you without involving the tax office.

Well, they didn't.

We got the letter of debt payoff, but no title.

This is correct.

You have to take the letter to the Tax Office and show it to them to clear the title and issue the clean title.

I wonder if this investigation/arrest is related to the recent Houston Chronicle investigation/story showing that Ann Harris Bennett (Harris County's elected Tax Assessor-Collector) "has not used her employee badge to access any county facility since October 2020. She swiped her badge 92 times in 2019, seven times in 2020 and not once since then."

Plus fill out a form.

Plus make an appointment in advance.

Plus, because my wife is also on the title, coordinate with her schedule so we both show up in person.

I think you can just bring her driver's license, she doesn't need to be there (that's what I did for a few of mine)

The title office holds the title in the Leinholders name.

Once the Lienholder releases the lien, they send notification to the title office that the lien has been satisfied (released) and the title office SHOULD issue you a title, in your name and mail it to you.

EDIT: Sorry, i guess TX is different (and stupid).

Where I live, I don't have to do anything. The lienholder releases the title and the DMV mails me a title in my name.

Not what I read last time I looked into it. Pretty sure it was both must be in person, and that was the fulcrum point of hold up.

City of Houston and Harris County governments are corrupt. Rodney Ellis is the ring leader. They re-drew the precinct maps to ensure democrat control and have since done nothing but steal from the citizens. They blatantly cheated during last the county elections and nothing was done.

Until Harris County residents realize that they are being cheated by these goons and hold them accountable, Houston will continue to devolve into the next inner city Chicago.

I recall the good ole days when we could simply bribe the women in the Harris Co permitting office with a big box of donuts.

There are two sides of the people who keep them in power.

Those who don't give a **** about corruption and only care about voting blue.

Those who actively benefit from the corruption.

These two groups outnumber us sane people who want those corrupt mother****ers out of there.

Always just put one name on car title. Saves paperwork time.

What part of town are you in? There's a Tax office over in Tomball and it's typically not terribly busy.

That is no longer the case:
https://www.txdmv.gov/lienholders

Quote:

The Electronic Lien and Title Program (ELT) is a paperless method that allows TxDMV and a financial institution or lienholder to exchange vehicle title information electronically. The title record is sent electronically and the lienholder stores the electronic record instead of a paper certificate of title. The electronic title is created and held by TxDMV in the state motor vehicle database.

Title applications are submitted and processed through the local county tax office. Under ELT, when a lien has been satisfied, the lender must submit an electronic release of lien. The lienholder is then removed from the record, receives an electronic notification and a paper title is sent to the owner.

For one of our cars, we didn't get the Title and I had to chase it down. I also found out that in some states with the Electronic Title that you may never get a paper Title sent. If you actually want the paper Title, you have request it. I thought that was going to be the case, but eventually got it.

Well it was still the case in February when I got the title to my RV directly from the finance company and again in July when I got the title to my car directly from that finance company.

Actually................you don't get the title at the time of the purchase. It comes in the mail a week or two later.

Just FYI
