The mayor of a violence-plagued city in Mexico was killed on Sunday with his decapitated body left in a pickup truck and his severed head placed atop the vehicle's roof.

Alejandro Arcos, 43, was killed just six days after he took office as mayor of the city of Chilpancingo, a city of around 280,000 people in southwestern Mexico.

The city, the capital of Guerrero state, is so violent that a drug gang openly staged a demonstration, hijacked a government armored car and took police hostage in 2023 to win the release of arrested suspects.
Images of what appeared to be Arcos' severed head atop a white pick-up truck have been circulating on social media. In other images, his headless body partially covered with a blanket can be seen in the passenger side of the truck.

Arcos' social media posts leading up to his death showed him supervising disaster relief efforts following the impact of Hurricane John last month, which caused severe flooding in beach resort Acapulco and surrounding towns.

Mourners, including Arcos' wife, attended a funeral for the slain official on Monday.

"His loss mourns the entire Guerrero society and fills us with indignation," Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado said in a statement shared on social media.

Alejandro Moreno, the national leader of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, lamented Arcos' killing and said it came just three days after the new city government's secretary, Francisco Tapia, was shot to death.

"They had been in office less than a week," Moreno wrote on his social media accounts. "They were young and honest public servants who were seeking progress for their community."

I used to do mission work down there for AFC. That's terrible. What's even more terrible is that everybody just seems fine to accept it.

Chili sits in a valley between Acapulco and Mexico City. When we evacked from Acapulco heading inland to Chilpancingo year, you could see cars burning alongside the highway. That is generally indicative of a cartel killing. The whole state of Guerrero is dangerous and on the State Department "no-go" list. Thanks, Lopez-Obrador.

We quit going to Mexico years ago. Unfortunately, with Democrats cranking up the invasion machine, Mexico is now coming to us.

Maybe the mayor had US plates and a bunch of stuff packed in his car, otherwise, he would've been totally safe.

Hammer this. The dems want this. This is only a crisis to those opposed to the mass importation of the violent and backwards third world.

The border debacle could be stopped without any new legislation. They (the left) simply choose not to. It's their wanted position.

LOL this is the most ridiculous claim I have ever seen, if true.

The last election, didn't they have 20-something candidates ASSASSINATED???

Houston is one of the most dangerous cities in the US, and I know numerous Mexican-Americans who won't step foot across the border or even go to Mexico period.

These things have happened in Mexico at least since I started paying attention back in the early 90s.

Unfortunately, this is nothing new. Nor has it ever not been this way in recent memory.

I will say, those seeking office, like these in the story, knowing this is the likely outcome come second to no one when it comes to courage (i.e. having giant brass cajones).

My FIL who was born and raised in the RGV, is fully fluent and then some, knows every custom and culture, used to go visit friends and some cousins in Monterrey pretty regularly. He take a bus from Harlingen. It's been at least 10 years since he got back from one his visits and declared "nope" (in Spanish of course). He's never gone back.

Something about having the cartel blockade the highway and go through every passenger onboard at gun point, taking all of their valuables, then beating the sh** out of the driver before shooting out the tires, makes a guy decide this is a bad idea.

The real problem Urbanag...... is that there aren't enough GOP voters that are Mormon.

You all need to be having 4-6 kids each. A country with a strong basis in capitalism needs a constant influx of growth and new people to keep the profits coming.

The World Bankers and Corporations don't care who the people are as long as they are getting paid.

If your base is old people...then your voting pool is going to shrink rather quickly.....and then get replaced by someone younger and cheaper.
