Got a story for you!
I have A young employee hired 3 or 4 years ago that had a very similar story. I noticed he was pretty vague if you asked about his youth or family. Spent a day with him on field visits and by the end of the day he confessed his life story to me. Father shot himself, mother(nurse)) started abusing drugs and he wound up being raised by grandparents that had a few loose screws as well. Luckily I had read the book and the movie came out right before this. I'll always remember has ashamed he was admitting this to me.
The kid had worked his way from a very bad public school to get a mechanical engineering degree from auburn
I told him that his upbringing was far from being something to be ashamed of he should be very proud of the fact he navigated his way thru it. Gave him orders to watch that movie that night and buy the book! Jd had just announced running for senate and I told him he had a very good chance of being president one day!
Anyway, I would gladly pay a million dollars to see the look on his face the next day. He got choked up and told me he called his sister at 11 the night before to tell her to watch it that night!
I don't know if JD will be very good at this politician thing but his story will change people's lives if they will open their ears to hear it. He has a very inspirational story to tell how to rise above all this mess our society has become fueled by government spending.
