The ads about Cruz not supporting a bloated do-nothing border bill are pure pandering. He didn't support it because it was **** legislation.

Yep, I live in Austin and if it weren't for Allred commercials, you would have no idea he existed
You have all that out of state money to thank for that. That crap should be banned.

If I have my TV on, I can't go 15 minutes without an Allred commercial. Sometimes I can see one during every single commercial break.

If anyone didn't know who he was, they'd think Ted Cruz is the liberal candidate who supports open borders.

Allred's campaign is "vote for me, I'm the conservative who played football, was raised by a single mom, can work with both parties, but oh yeah, if I'm elected, you can murder your unborn children whenever you want."
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

So my wife says to me last night that she is going to vote for Allred because Cruz is going to take away her social security. We had a spirited discussion about that but I am not sure that she wouldn't say the same thing tonight.

Allred commercials are constant in North Texas, and it clearly made an impression on my wife.

Ted has to push back at least on that issue. Letting Allred describe Ted's position isn't working on Social Security.

Dems like Allred have taken the "border bill" and using it to bludgeon Republicans and some sheep believe it. That was the entire point of the bill as well, they knew it would get killed but it gave them cover fire for their leadership's open border policies and a few dumbass Rs fell into the trap and voted for it to give them the "bipartisan" moniker. They'll say Republicans want it as a wedge issue but the border bill was a terrible bill. R's can't seem to articulate that or just aren't given the air space to articulate it because the media pushes the Dems lies about it.

Its wild how people are so fooled by this that they'll forget the first 3 years of Biden/HArris where they reversed all of Trump's EOs and allowed countless millions to pour over the border.

There's a party line that every Dem seems to deploy these days - "so and so is just in it for himself, but I, I'm fighting hard for the American people ".
R/D, it doesn't matter. They're ALL in it for themselves.
But, the Dems really think that they have claim to the moral high road lately :-)

Cruz simply needs to run ads that say Allred will be a proxy vote for Chuck Schumer because that is the truth. If you want Texas to become NY or CA then vote for Allred.

It is amazing to me though that after running a solid Presidential campaign in '16 that Cruz has run 2 crappy Senate campaigns in a row. I still think he wins because Texas is so Red but damn he is trying to FAFO.

That is actually a very good estimate.

Morning Consult is one of the worst, always left-leaning polls out there.

Without getting into the weeds too much in terms of their methodology, they are one of the polls that cultivates a disproportionally large share of overeducated and over-credentialed voters into their sampling, relative to the actual electorate; making both their Democrat sample (to a lesser extent) and their Republican sample (to a greater extent) skew more Democrat than reality. This dynamic is even more pronounced when Trump is on the ballot, as the overeducated/over-credentialled segment of both party's voters are the least "Trumpy."

As a result, therefore, Morning Consult's polls always skew Democrat by about 5.5% on the average, compared to actual election results. That means almost every poll they publish ends up falling well outside their own margins of error compared to the actual election results, and they never (literally 0% of the time) overstate Republican support.

If you want to know by how much you can do the math yourself based upon their numbers from the last two national election cycles.

This is by how much they overstated Democrat support in the last two election cycles compared to the actual results.

2022 congressional results: Democrats +7.2
2020 presidential national: Biden +4
2020 Arizona: Biden +2.7
2020 Florida: Biden +10.4
2020 Georgia: Biden +2.7
2020 Ohio: Biden +10
2020 Michigan: Biden +6.3
2020 Minnesota: Biden +2.8
2020 North Carolina: Biden +1.5
2020 South Carolina: Biden +5.5
2020 Pennsylvania: Biden +7.8
2020 Texas: Biden +5.6
2020 Wisconsin: Biden +12.4

As you can see Morning Consult way overstates Democrat support literally ALL OF THE TIME, and they are especially terrible at polling the Midwest. And by the way in their poll for Texas last election... they had Trump and Biden tied, LOL.

If you want to know what their polls REALLY say about this election, therefore, you have to add by how much they missed (above) to Trump's (or Cruz's) numbers.

That makes Cruz ahead by 4.6.

And in their current 2024 presidential polls in the crucial rust belts states (Trump wins one of them he wins the election) you have to add to Trump's numbers +6.3 in Michigan, +7.8 in Pennsylvania, and +12.4 in Wisconsin to get an accurate look at the state of the race.

For most of the rest of the media/university polls you will see that their structural Democrat bias is pretty comparable as well, including the ones that heavily utilize the Ipsos panels.

So you think 75% of this country supports dudes being able to play women's sports, having access to scholarships under a rewritten Title IX potentially denying deserving women opportunities to compete at the collegiate level and beyond?

He's not trying to gain the votes of degenerate leftist freaks that would be offended by commercials against boys competing against, and showering and changing in locker rooms with peoples daughters. Clown take. As usual.

He's trying to get normal people on board. Not psycho leftists.

The leftist Sodom and Gomorrah cultural push is what scares most decent normal people. Even a lot of generational democrat latinos and blacks. I realize you and your ideological brethren want gay cartoon p0rn like "Gender Queer" in childrens' school libraries, and get very upset when it is removed, but most people are not like you.

For those not paying attention/deranged by anti-GOP messaging, Cruz has been waiting to spike advertising close to Election Day:

Baiting Democrats into spending more state-wide money in Texas/Florida vs. WI/PA/OH/MI etc. has been a time tested strategy that works, especially well during POTUS cycles. "Conservative" doom-and-gloomers always fall for this. A debate with Ted is always painful for the 'no comment' opponents:

Ted just gets things done. I hope more listen to his podcast/check his X feeds.

The last time Cruz debated a Democrat that was trying to hide his liberal ways in a close election, he wiped the floor with him and that was the only reason he won. Cruz may not be likeable, but he's very smart and an amazing debater, probably the best one since Newt Gingrich. They can debate on their feet. They can persuade with ideas. Allred can't get away from immigration issues and his party's inflation. That isn't being asked in these surveys.

Thank you for evaluating my life long love of conservatism and suggesting I move to my true home left of The Squad. Thank you for clarifying that the party should only have two camps, weak-minded, mealy mouthed Rhinos who live for Dem approval or shock-jocked obsessed, MAGA types who rather entertain each other than win.

I had forgotten for a moment that Reagan, Goldwater and Buckley would all be focused on immigrants eating cats and boys participating in girls sports at such a high rate.

There is a giant difference between losing elections because we lost sight of our values and losing because we take ques from a pillow salesman and obsess over period products in boys bathrooms that do not exist

If he loses, it won't be a surprise to me since Texas has been following the same trends that resulted in California going blue in the 90s. DFW, Austin, and Houston have been overflowing with California transplants, and those people tend to bring their left-wing political views along with them as opposed to adjusting them.
