Desantis should have been the nominee instead of Trump. Look at Desantis vs. Newsom.

There are 8 or 10 or 50 posters here who would win debates against biden or harris.

winning a debate is just a small thing, Effecting radical change and withstanding 8 years of all out assault is another matter.

You're right it takes a special talent to lose a debate to both Biden and Harris.

Yeah trump lost so badly to Biden he went from +2 to minus 6 and got forced to step down.

You should feel bad for that poor of a take.

As a DeSantis supporter in this primary (and probably the next one), let me be perfectly clear when I say.

STOP crying over spilled milk. Trump is the nominee. It is a two person race, and Ron DeSantis is not in it.
DeSantis made a mistake even throwing his hat int the ring as late as he did. I know he was waiting ona change in law that would allow him to run and still be governor during that presidential run.

His only Iowa matters campaign just did not connect with the most retail politics base ever, and he lost Iowa.

Can he correct those issues in 2028? Think so but then he may have to face Vance in the primary.
And that's an interesting point. Vance has grown substantially in my eyes, and will be worthy of serious consideraton.

I know DeSantis is an effective governor. I didn't know how effective of a speaker Vance was.

Put those two together next go-round and they'll be an impressive team.

Actually, this board is a perfect example of why Trump won the nomination. Most on this board don't want the best and brightest candidate to lead the Republicans this year. They want Trump so they can "get revenge" for what happened to Trump four years ago and what's been happening to him in his legal cases. That's why he won the primary, along with his cowardice in avoiding the debates.

Let's just hope that despite that poor reasoning Trump can actually earn enough of the non-diehard-MAGA-faithful votes to win the election.
No most on this board were smart enough to know that Trump was going to win the primary. And instead of kicking and screaming and throwing a tantrum so everyone knew how unhappy you were some of us just worked to make the best of the situation.

I still remember the DeSantis loyalists thinking DeSantis was going to win Iowa. Thinking this tweet and that tweet was some major gotcha that would change things. Then the argument that Trump couldn't beat Biden.

So the only thing to wonder is, if you guys got everything wrong, maybe you should not be so cocky in your political takes.

The irony in this post is dripping? That is the best retort you could think of.

Please point out all the ironic comments about how you and your DeSantis crew haven't been crybabies and weren't wrong about everything. Heck yall tried to get fireag banned because he posted the truth on how Trump was going to win. Then Trump won. Did yall see the light. Noooo yall dug deeper.

Is what it is. If Trump loses though it's all on him and every person that supported him in the primary. We had another option and chose to go with a guy that has monster negatives and is pushing 80. I'm voting for him but if he loses I don't want to hear any of this "Anyone would have lost" and "The election is rigged" crap from people that supported him when we had a choice. This is his 3rd run and he won by a sliver in '16. This is what folks chose but no excuses if it doesn't work out. Trump fumbled away a big opportunity last night because he is terrible at reciting facts and staying focused in a debate, it's no surprise.

God help us if he loses. I don't know what he is spending his money on because I'm not seeing any ads outside of X for him but Kamala is everywhere. He'll get my vote without question though as well as my entire family's (including my son voting for the first time).

Vance messed up with the cat lady remark, and he needs take a lesson. Something that sets Trump apart from any of these other candidates. He doesn't insult american voters and call them names, of either party.. He goes after specific people in the arena of politics and celebrity. and illegal migrants. He doesn't insult or make fun of democrat voters. won't attack citizens on vaccine choices, abortion choices, opinions or lifestyles....
He has never tried to enrage his base against any other groups of people.

Then Trump has been the nominee and has had all the resources of the GOP to do something about it. He has the money. He has the support. It's on him. I hope he wins. Oh, and you are the one who says the same thing over and over and has some weird obsession with me. I post more positive for Trump than criticism.

Again, it doesn't matter now. Get behind Trump and do what you can to help him win. No one knows the future and there's no telling what the left would get to stick to DeSantis with their lies and propaganda.

agreed re: DeSantis, or Ramaswamy, or Donalds, or Vance... they'd all do great, and IMO, are better equipped to actually be more successful at some of the goals like draining the swamp. But as much as the establishment has created hoaxes, impeached, interfered with and "fortified" elections against, tried to bankrupt, imprison, and remove from ballots, and incite the masses with crazy rhetoric in hopes that Trump gets buried, he's still kicking and the America first base that he brought together eight years ago wasn't going to abandon him and embrace a new America-first nominee just yet. This is his last run. Is it too late if he fails? Because the marxist regime doesn't appear to be slowing down their pace at destroying this thing.

This is why our party is circling the drain.

the Trump supporters literally believe that if they just answer with "well Trump won the primary!"

then that is some kind of smart retort to "the GOP primary voters were stupid to nominate Trump"

it is as stupid as a Gerry Ford supporter claiming in 1976:

"but Ronald Reagan couldn't even win the 1976 GOP Primary! he sucks!"
