Desantis should have been the nominee instead of Trump. Look at Desantis vs. Newsom.

I'll vote for him but I don't think things will get marginally better. He ran off all the decent people that helped him the first time around and now the sycophants will be the only ones who work for him.
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

In a fight between DeSantis and you. I'd bet on DeSantis. This is the dumbest post of the night. including the demwit posts on the debate thread.
Do you think platform shoes help in a fight?
Do you think Trumps rambling debate performances help the Conservative cause. Oh wait you hate most conservatives even admitted it.
Trump coulda done better but didn't do bad. And I think we've had plenty of time for the "conservative cause" to right the ship at this point and I see nothing but globohomo nonsense everywhere I look.

He didn't have any plan going into this, nor the questions in advance, nor adoring moderators.

Nevertheless he will cry about this until the election and dig himself a deeper grave.

It doesn't matter who the R is. The debate will be the same. 3 vs 1 and slanted to help the D. She didn't answer one question all night and did nothing but lie and everyone here thinks she "won"

Hell, he did not get a single vote from any Texan to be the candidate, in spite of The Woodlands bleeding.

See first sentence.

I hate Trump crapped the bed again like he did in 2019. I suspect you feel the same. It may give us the most incompetent president ever; even after 4 years with a senile corpse.

We can blame the media hacks or the Marxist dems and their dishonesty - but Trump was given softball after softball and missed them all. JD Vance would have murdered her. As would Vivek, Desantis, etc…

But we get……what the primary voters thought was our best candidate. I hate it but will vote Trump without hesitation for self-preservation.

I think he appealed to voters outside of Florida. Trump just sucked all the air out of the room especially with the indictments and Trump didn't participate in any of the primary debates.
He made a calculated risk to run (and learn from it) and preserved himself for 2028 by leaving early.

And I have been posting all night that of course its 3 to 1 but its been that way since 1984. The MSM has been American Pravda for a very long time. But Harris is a terrible candidate and all Trump needs to do is stick to the basics that we have discussed over and and over. But he cant, I dont get it. This should be easy even being outnumbers 3 to 1. Yes she is that bad.

Tonight I'm most disappointed in DeSantis. He had a huge lead and momentum early in the primaries and blew it.

"But but it was 3v1" is not an excuse. Everybody on earth knew that would be the situation going into this debate; nobody thought the republican candidate would get an even shake.

It was on the republican party to pick a candidate who could deflect those multi-pronged attacks and riposte with devastating counters tying Kamala to 1) the failures of the last 4 years and 2) the wacky ass positions she championed until about 3 months ago when she realized she was going to be the candidate and needed to court the moderate vote to win. DeSantis and Youngkin could do that. Vivek could do that. Vance could do that with half his brain tied behind his back. BUT, we instead picked a 78 year old who could barely deliver that focus 8 years ago.

We'll see what happens. Maybe "don't California the rest of the country" will be enough. but the post debate reactions are not good. Like, at all.

RD got mauled in the primaries. He was never a serious contender for the nomination. He was a very weak second choice.

He'd mop the floor with this Dem nominee. It isn't that hard to do. Trump was not serious this time and didn't hit back like he should have during the debate.

Actually, ol' Ronnie D got over a thousand votes in the Woodlands primary despite having withdrawn two months prior to the election.

We might need to be nicer to WoodlandsAg. Dude has the ability to cast a thousand votes; we might need that in November

Desantis would never have agreed to a debate on ABC with Democrat operatives.

What a dumb counter argument. But hey, you're right. Desantis didn't win the one primary in little ol' Iowa, going against a (basically) incumbent candidate with the most notariety of any candidate in decades, perhaps ever. A candidate who set himself up (and was aided by the Dems themselves conveniently) as the "David vs Goliath" candidate.

Its so awesome that the next four years for our entire nation will be decided by a tiny contention of republicans in one small state. Awesome primary system we have set up.

Actually, this board is a perfect example of why Trump won the nomination. Most on this board don't want the best and brightest candidate to lead the Republicans this year. They want Trump so they can "get revenge" for what happened to Trump four years ago and what's been happening to him in his legal cases. That's why he won the primary, along with his cowardice in avoiding the debates.

Let's just hope that despite that poor reasoning Trump can actually earn enough of the non-diehard-MAGA-faithful votes to win the election.

No most on this board were smart enough to know that Trump was going to win the primary. And instead of kicking and screaming and throwing a tantrum so everyone knew how unhappy you were some of us just worked to make the best of the situation.

I still remember the DeSantis loyalists thinking DeSantis was going to win Iowa. Thinking this tweet and that tweet was some major gotcha that would change things. Then the argument that Trump couldn't beat Biden.

So the only thing to wonder is, if you guys got everything wrong, maybe you should not be so cocky in your political takes.

Desantis is the guy with the right ideas but the public is just too stupid so he'll never win. People are idiots and we are about to elect a marxist as president as a result. This impending train wreck is on the american dumbass who would punch a vote for marxism. Trump is going to get my vote, but the stupidity of the lower 90% never ceases to amaze me.

DeSantis made a mistake even throwing his hat int the ring as late as he did. I know he was waiting ona change in law that would allow him to run and still be governor during that presidential run.

His only Iowa matters campaign just did not connect with the most retail politics base ever, and he lost Iowa.

Can he correct those issues in 2028? Think so but then he may have to face Vance in the primary.
