No, I'd say wage stagnation and inflation is still bad it's just not catastrophic for 10-20%. It takes an extreme amount of delusion to argue that real wages decreasing is "not bad" even for those that may have the ability to weather the storm.

Idk. Based on Govt Numbers (deep state) wage growth and inflation since January 2021 are almost equal.

In addition SP500 has grown 2X inflation and although everyone claims housing is through the roof that isn't true for all the people that refinanced in run up to 2021 who now have 20-50% greater equity in their house.

I am not trying to pretend it's all "candy and nuts" but it ain't all doom and gloom either.

the investment class has seen their portfolios become very overvalued and inflated along with the currency devaluation, so their pain will be far less now and far delayed from the lower and middle class living off paychecks instead of dividends and security sales.

Inflation caused by big government spending is felt first by the lower class and middle class, and shrinks & eliminates the middle class as the government-dependent impoverished lower class expands- it always happens as big government raises taxes to coincide with the devalued currency, and it's a viscous circular reference as creating more poverty creates more government-dependent voters who will vote for the free handout socialist politicians.

...but feel free to look at the 5 year unrealized gains on your investments and think you're doing just fine until the market crashes and you're not.

the day Biden took office Covid was killing 3000 Americans a day and unemployment was over 6%. sorry your boy lost and all but take off the maga tinted glasses.
Gas was $1.75 and the dollar meal was a real thing. As for Covid Deaths they turned out to be old age and the flu.

This mythical $1.75/gallon gas was caused by COVID. Prior to the pandemic gas was running in the $2.50-$2.75 range.

No one would trade spring of 2020 for cheap gas.

It was about $2.00 locally (Texas), still $1.75 was a real thing.

I work for the company the owns GasBuddy and have had long, an enlightening discussions, with our chief economists who argues that presidents have nearly zero impact on the retail cost of gasoline in the short or medium term.

CPI hasn't been an accurate measure of consumer level inflation in probably 50+ years. One of the reasons they changed how it was calculated was to reduce the amount of COLA for SS payouts. I have no reason to think that the wage numbers are terribly far off however inflation is not and has not been accurate for decades. Any discussion about real wage growth (or lack thereof) has to acknowledge that fact to even have a chance of an honest debate, and that's before you get to a discussion on things like shrinkflation which CPI does not even pretend to take into account.

SP500 growing does not help the vast majority of this nation who have little to nothing invested. It mostly helps the same 10-20% we previously discussed.

Equity doesn't mean much unless you have the means and ability to take advantage of it. Most of this country doesn't have the cashflow to take advantage of their increased equity, especially in a time when interest rates have tripled from the lows of 3 years ago.

Biden has destroyed the economy, the world is at war, and he has been replaced by his doing with a DEI.

Dude has done nothing positive.
Money for Veterans with disabilities caused by toxic exposure

Further extended and expanded the Veteran's Choice act that Obama initiated in 2014 and which Trump claimed as his own when Congress extended and expanded it in 2019.

Chips Act, bringing manufacturing of chips back to the States and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers

Infrastructure Bill that Trump wanted done when he was President then railed against when Biden got it done

Salary increases are outpacing inflation

Those are things that deserve an attaboy regardless of partisan preference. Plenty of Republican politicians have since been tooting their horn for infrastructure projects that benefit their constituents… even though they voted against the infrastructure bill.

Other actions that some here are obviously either totally or at least partially against include additional funding for the IRS over a 10 year period to update obsolete equipment and replace and somewhat replenish an aging workforce where about half of an already depleted workforce is expected to retire within the next five years. Obviously unpopular with people who hate paying taxes (and who actually enjoys doing so?) but needed to improve customer service. A small portion of new hiring, not remotely the numbers claimed by some, would be for agents to help unmask tax fraud and avoidance.

And then there's the parts that many here simply don't believe. Or at least, prefer to ignore. Our reputation as the leading nation in the world has been restored. The U.S. economy is the strongest in the world, having recovered from the COVID collapse faster and better than any other major nation. Inflation soared in Biden's first year but would have done the same in 2021 under Trump if he'd been re-elected, and the rate dropped faster and further than in other countries. Biden's GDP and unemployment numbers have been at least as good as they were in Trump's pre-COVID years where he bragged about having the greatest economy in history (which wasn't true). There are more manufacturing jobs now than the highest level under Trump. The predicted recession following the Pandemic never happened. Hiring for new jobs has been continually greater than expected until this month, meaning maybe the Fed will finally back off a bit. And despite Biden supposedly being so against oil and gas, the industry has had record profits under him and we've been producing more oil the past year than in 2019, its highest level under Trump. In addition, while many here hate the support for green energy, it's not entirely about reducing green house gases. Oil IS a finite resource. The fact that oil from shale has gained such prominence should help point that out. We're producing that only because the volume of more easily produced (and far less expensive to produce) oil has been reduced to the point there wouldn't be enough to meet our needs. New energy technologies have to be developed and their flaws discovered and fixed before oil production begins to fall to the point where post pandemic gas prices would seem like pocket change. Sure, that isn't't going to happen in the next ten years and maybe not the next 20, but it is going to begin happening not too long after that. Focusing only on the here and now and ignoring future conditions and needs is a sure way to reduce our Nation's greatness and stature going forward.

By the way, if you want to complain about immigration, and to be sure, it has been out of control since the Pandemic, remember that Biden did belatedly get on board with the border Bill that Republicans shot down. Not because it wouldn't help, but because it would have, thus blunting Trump's biggest campaign points. You might also want to check official immigration stats because while there was a definite, prolonged surge, not nearly as many illegals have entered and stayed in the country as the campaign bluster would have you believe. Fewer of them commit crimes than do native born Americans, and the tax dollars spent on them are for programs also in place under Trump, and for several Presidents before him.

Your continued idiocy is amusing.

Covid killed more under Biden especially with the lies about ivermectin and forced vaccinations. Covid was only going on during 10 months of Trump and at the peak. What a ridiculous statement. Then we know that Biden padded the stats. Claiming more than there were.

Biden's statement that "unemployment in America has been below 4% for the longest stretch in over 50 years" a claim he made numerous times ignores the even longer stretch during the Trump administration when the rate was at or below that threshold.

During the Trump administration, there were 24 straight months when the unemployment rate was at or below 4%, starting in March 2018 and ending in February 2020, before the devastating economic effects of the pandemic kicked in.

why does this statement upset you so much when it is literally true? it was at 4% or below from December 2021 through May 2024. that's 30 months. this may come as a surprise to you but 30 is a bigger number than 24.
