I keep following along out of curiosity but I've really been checked out since about 2008 and I grew up in the 80s more patriotic than anyone I knew. Other than Thomas and maybe Alito, none of the SC justices are leaving. If Trump replaces either of them, it won't be someone who is going to crucify them the way Thomas has since his confirmation hearings. So not a HUGE loss, but not losing any ground. If you can't win, you hold ground and delay which will be the strategy while Trump is in office.

Sotomayor, Kagan, and not a woman are not going to need to be replaced. And they can likely hold enough of the Senate to forestall any kind of Trump legislation (the CM's in the Senate will vote 'no") they can lose the presidency for 4 years, regroup and go after the new GOP Hitler in 2028.
