I'm half-azzz having fun with this, but since this is the crazy conspiracy thread I'll open my mind and play along - regarding the "recruitment" of the shooter, this is done indirectly. The handler does not show up and say, "Hello Tom Crooks, my name is Agent Joe Smith, and I am with the CIA, and we've had our eye on you." No, not at all. The handler shows up as a charismatic scruffy war vet at the shooting range with good stories and a bone to pick with the former President. Conversations start slow. One conversation leads to another, laced with suggestion, persuasion, etc. about how "it" could be done. One day, the conversation becomes serious, and a plan (with Tom's help) is hatched. Tom, being a young impressionable 20-year old, never realizes he is being used by the dark forces within our government. Maybe Tom thought he was working with a partner, but the partner double crosses him and sets up behind Tom, so when Tom gets into position, the real sniper takes the shot, leaving Tom as the patsy. Wait, maybe FireAg is on to something!

Not sure what he means by credible explanation. No chance that's true. No way a trained sniper would miss a shot from 130 yards out.

I don't believe the theories of the OP. I believe the USSS was directed to leave that roof unattened... potentially. Its unbelivable that roof was inscure. Its alo unbelievable that USSS left that bldg to local police without confirming that security. Its totally unbelievable. And its an insult to our intelligence to believe the almost non-existent slope on that roof was a safety issue. There is a rat here.

I simply can't believe with any ounce of common sense that some 20yo kid walking around with a ladder, rifle, and range finder, for at least 30 min, out the open, and seen by everyone, is able to calmly climb up into a perfect sniper's roost, and which was on top of the LEO Command Post, mind you, and clip Donald Trump's ear with an AR15 using iron sights…
We have no detailed intel on the weapon, no shot count from the "shooter" vs counter sniper teams, no shell casings discussed as being found on the roof with the 20yo…nothing…
Shooter was behind the kid, much further away, and Trump's head tilt alone saved him…
Now that's the kind of conspiracy theory I'm talking about. This is legit until proven otherwise.

Teams of roofers all around my neighborhood lately on much steeper (and higher) roofs, and getting around with ease. Saw a few sitting on a sharp incline two story roof the other day drinking beer and cracking jokes. But a much flatter (and lower) roof is super dangerous for secret service. Does anyone have the ability to measure the altitude of that rooftop and compare it to the stage (+6 ft to account for Trump standing on the stage)?
I figured the rooftop would be quite a bit higher than Trump's head, but that one photo that was taken that shows the bullet behind Trump, makes it look like that bullet had an almost completely flat trajectory.

He did not miss. He hit Trump in the ear. Trump turned his head at the exact moment needed to cause the bullet to not go through his brain. It is an actual miracle that he isn't dead.

The kid had a goal for that bullet and his shot didn't accomplish it. I call that a miss. If you want to give him credit for an ear graze and call it a hit target… great.
Agree that if Trump didn't turn his head, he was toast.
But if a secret service sniper takes that shot (with the right gun), Trump slightly turning his head isn't going to matter.
As Erik Prince said, the shooter likely missed due to a bad wind estimate.
I would add that the head turn by Trump and the good Lord looking out for him played a major role.

Listened to interesting theory from a podcast: clear hit in place, shooter that died was patsy, they took out real shooter further out.
Would go with actions of sniper team that took out patsy as looking right at him and were surprised when he opened fire. Since Jill picked SS Director too they could have put bad actors in place to make it happen.
