There were police snipers here, not SS right? And one of them is the one who went downstairs to try and find the guy when the final reports of him were coming in?

Best guess according to the Senator's prelim report, is this is the photo the snipers took and circulated amongst themselves and the rest of the police for an ~hour before the shooting. Somehow this photo gets forwarded to someone and eventually gets posted by someone who got it second / third hand and thats why we saw it first and almost immediately after the incident.

That video is up against the window and looking that direction. The team in that building was said to be a sniper team not counter sniper.

Snipers don't set up in windows, they set up back in a room and shoot out. Their goal was to take out threats in the crowd.

Also that is the crew who was said to have left their post for 6 min correct?

What are you saying exactly?

They sat in a room and were told someone was on the roof below them with a gun, and either didn't look, or weren't allowed to look or act?

where has it been stated they were told there was a threat on the roof? In that roof back in the room you aren't seeing people under the trees pointing, you dang sure aren't hearing them and there has been zero proof of what was said over radio Comm's, on what channel, or to who.

Local police said there was an all group channel days ago. People reported the guy climbing on the roof to police long before he shot...

And It was certainly raidioed that they were looking into someone on the roof before two officers climbed onto the roof.

Now it seems there was somebody in tel he second floor of the metal building behind Crooks.

This makes the SS's explanation even more suspect….

Trump turns toward the screen, right as the shot whizzes by his right ear. Trump's nose is basically pointed at the shooter. If the shooter was in the second story windows off to the left in this photo, then when Trump turns, he probably gets hit in the left side of the face and dies, or at the least gets winged in the nose.

There are counter drone technologies in use that disable drones without having to be a sniper. Drones have signatures like firearm acoustics and can be pinpointed from a long way off.

Not sure there's evidence of this, at least from the reports so far. Sen. Johnson's projected timeline is in the report:

5:32pmAGR sniper 1 spots Crooks looking at his phone and using a rangefinder.
5:38pmAGR sniper 1 sends a message to the "Sniper Group" about Crooks.
5:40pmAGR sniper 1 is told to "call into command" regarding Crooks.
5:41pmAGR sniper 1 calls into command and provides a description of Crooks and
the rangefinder, as well as that Crooks was "lurking around [the] AGR building."
5:49pmPhotos of Crooks are sent to Butler ESU Command.
5:55pmButler ESU Command confirms receipt of the photos and states they have been
relayed on.
5:59pmButler ESU Command asks for the direction that Crooks is traveling. AGR
sniper 1 is initially unsure of the direction Crooks is traveling.
6:05pmAGR sniper 1 later communicates that Crooks is seen moving northeast "in the
direction of Sheetz" and that Crooks has a backpack.
6:06-6:12pmAGR sniper 1 goes to ground floor of the building to meet local law
enforcement patrol to alert them to Crooks presence.
Approx. 6:11pmCrooks begins shooting.
Secret Service reportedly return fire and Crooks is killed

Whether "shady looking dude wandering around with a backpack and range finder" should have been enough to put a hold on everything is a different issue (should have been enough in my opinion), but doesn't seem like they knew his location on the roof until a minute or two before the shooting.

1. Goofy 20yo kid draws a ton of attention to himself most of the afternoon and then climbs up on a roof…

To me one of the biggest absurdities after the fact is this ridiculous 60 day AAR the USSS claims to be waiting on. An AAR preliminary report is 72 hrs max and final AAR a week. This should be given the highest priority due to the actual action in question is top level protection and this action is still active and ongoing 24/7. Eight weeks is absurd.

Anything taking this long is a cover your ass not an investigation. When Cheatle is as for roster numbers and deployment numbers excluding names, call them agent one two three for five whatever, but the deployment numbers or roster numbers take seconds to pull. She claiming they are pulling files and building a comprehensive report is complete garbage. That's stall attics and deflection.

Pushing everything off one the FBI is nonsense. The not talking about an ongoing investigation is used when you don't want to spoil a prosecutable case. This isn't a prosecution case the perp is dead. This is an investigation into the system failure and breakdown in communication. It's pretty simple, human error is problem number one, and that can be broken down into complacency and or incompetence. Or just good ole fashioned failure to do the job assigned to you. It doesn't take 60 days to figure that out.

The corrective action is fire those guilty of failure to follow protocol and procedures, reassign and retrain those that were incompetent or under qualified, and all those in charge who were responsible for the forward planning, roster assignments, and final approval are fired period. This isn't a failure in traffic duty or prisoner handling, this is presidential level protection. You're Fired.

This is cover or save your ass not find out how they failed.

Back in the day when USSS was under the department of treasury they handled all sorts of stuff from counterfeit money to investigations and protection. Now days they have one job. Protection.

Groupthink is a phenomenon that occurs when a group of well-intentioned people makes irrational or non-optimal decisions spurred by the urge to conform or the belief that dissent is impossible.
If this was in fact an egregious level of incompetence that we've never seen before then it fits within the mold of groupthink.

Here we had a bunch of well trained professionals with the best possible resources money could buy fail to act on a known risk that this 20 y/o kid would climb the roof of a building and shoot Trump in the head.

I would assume many of the people working that day golf if they didn't already recognize it from their day job. I have not seen a modern range finder that isn't 3x power by default so there would be the argument that a person brought it to look at Trump but alarm bells should have been going off.

The failure was having that rooftop unsecured within easy firing range of Trump. There are probably people on SS's radar at lots of events like this. Until he was in position with a weapon, he was just "suspicious". They're not going to shut down events for a suspicious person outside the security cordon or these events would never happen.

Huge lapse not having that building secured and/or directly observed at all times.
