Is that a roof access door, below the green x, from the 2nd floor of that building where the LE are supposed to be? If it is and they're there and hear reports of someone on that roof they could have gone out that and easily seen the shooter.

Most roof access door are locked from the inside so no one without out proper authority (usually the maintenance staff) with a key can go out. They're no locked from the outside so no one can get stuck on the roof.

And the local PD started trying to find a way onto the roof to see WTF was going on. The local township councilman interview earlier in the thread documents this is what happened.

A 120-lb kid with braces wasn't a priority for the secret service.

They probably took one look at this kid and dismissed him as some autistic kid wandering around. Trying to stay away from his parents.

He's dismissed as a non-threat.

A half dozen people probably looked at this kid. Had eyes on the kid but he ain't what they were looking for. He was a distraction and a waste of time, 'will you mfers stop reporting this gd kid so we can scan for real threats.'

You can see that playing out.

They were looking for a guy that looked like Barnes in Platoon. They looking for little Ivan. They looking for somebody that doesn't look like this kid.

So he flys under the radar. Next thing you know he on the roof and its chaos.

There's a bunch of hesitation and confusion. Now it's too late.

I believe the mass shooting angle was proposed as the initial reason he came and scouted multiple angles thinking it would r be possible to do more. Once he found a way onto the unprotected roof and a shot on Trump he went with that. Not that he got on the roof to shoot viewers and accidentally hit Trump in the process

Now that they released that Crooks was out with a drone earlier in the day, I'm pretty settled on incompetent/malicious SS versus conspiracy theory with the shooter. The big hole to me was how did Crooks know what he would be able to get away with prior to actually shooting the gun - either he had to do prior recon or someone had to give him the info. Now does it make the SS look even worse that Crooks was able to fly a ******* drone? Absolutely. The crew they had that day was either really, really dumb or just not trying that hard.
