Acknowledged missteps?

Seems like a little more than a misstep, no?

Is she soft peddling this?

Is this Mr. Chow from The Hangover saying "but did you die?"

Who on planet earth has the privilege to screw up this bad and be this obstinate?

Shows up at the RNC and busts out with the classic "now is not the time or the place."

His camera is so fancy and high tech there's no reason not to shoot fast and ensure you get zero blur from hands, camera, wind moving the camera, etc. heck most of those camera men were moving constantly which will add blur. Full daylight allows you to shoot faster because you don't need a high iso

That's a poor take and only for conspiracy take.

It's not even that fancy. My 80D could catch that.

1/8000" shutter may have been to allow a low F and a decent ISO in bright sunlight.

Were the settings even manually set?

1/8000 in bright sun is not crazy, especially with a Sony A1. You shoot the fastest your lighting will allow for and pop off as many photos as you can….ESPECIALLY if you're a big publication photographer and don't have to filter through all the photos yourself and just have an editing team that does it for you.

Yet again (sorry if repetitive on this thread etc), no excuse for leaving Trump on the "X" for the shooter given what was known, and documented thoroughly, for anywhere from 26 minutes to 3 hours.

It's real damn hard to see this as merely 'incompetence' on the USSS team planning/leadership, imho.

From that interview and other reports it seems like the below is a plausible timeline specifically for the shooter's area:

1. Officers get reports of dude on roof from people around the building. (Are they radioing in again at this point? If so what's the report?)
2. Officers circle building trying to find way up.
3. Officers give up on finding a ladder and one tries to boost the other up.
4. Cop 1 pokes his head over edge of roof while trying to boost himself up there, sees shooter who initially points his weapon at Cop 1.
5. Cop 1 falls and drops about 8 feet on the ground. Cop 1 and 2 then radio command post? (Still seems unclear when they actually saw/reported a weapon and that guy says he doesn't know)
6. Shooter then turns around and starts firing.

Definitely helpful info there. It seems like there are still questions around when the shooter was actually reported to command post, because if it was right after Cop 1 fell off the roof not sure that would have been enough time to pull Trump off stage if he immediately turned around, aimed and started firing.

And then the other important question for the SS would be - should being told there's a shady looking kid wandering around the perimeter with a range finder have been enough to cancel or postpone the event. Definitely need to get more info on who knew what and at what point in the day.

Question for you regular shooters, I only hunt two or three times a year. Assuming Crooks pointed the AR at the cop , how long would it take him (assuming he is an average shooter) to get the gun back to a shooting position, get Trump in his optics, settle in and take the shot?

And if the radio was open, how were the snipers not zeroed in where they knew the cop was looking and not see the commotion of the kid swinging the gun around and then getting back to set up?

Also, I get the slope of the roof keeps the snipers from seeing him up to a point, but how far from the peak would he be where he, or his gun, would be visible? Especially from their higher perch and the low slope of the shooters roof?

The snipers were well above Trump. If Trump was visible to the shooter, the shooter was visible to the snipers. If he had a good position and had just turned around to look back, he could get back in and on target in a few seconds.

Everything thats happened to Trump since February has resulted him getting more popular. And thats wild considering that things that have happened include:

Being found liable for sexual assault

$355 million in civil judgements on the basis of fraud.

Unanimously convicted on 34 felony counts

And now being shot in the ear on live tv.

Against all odds Trump has gained in popularity over the past 6-months while his opposition has devolved into chaos.

Any dispute on those facts?

Funny how most Americans see through the banana republic BS conducted by desperate Democrats whose policies are so bad that they cannot win a fair election.
The more the Democrats try to use fascist tactics, the more Americans move away from them.

How is it possible that the shooter wasn't taken out immediately?

How is it possible that there was any delay?

Use of deadly force goes on the basis of a continuum.

At the top of that continuum are thee elements.

Weapon + Opportunity = Action

Both of those criteria are met here as soon as someone sighted with a rifle moves in the direction of prone position.

Both of those criteria mandate an immediate response.

Whether you trying to defend yourself or a third party under your protection.

So the fact that they watched the guy for an hour, and watched the guy set up defies all logic and reason. It's inconsistent with basic use of force protocol. By not shooting the guy on sight you are doing the exact opposite of what you should be doing under any use of force scenario, self defense or defense of a third person.

What is the reasonable explanation for this?

The only plausible scenario I can come up with would be they thought maybe he was local LEO. But all of the other info coming in about him being noted as suspicious and that local LEOs had an aerial picture of him on the roof prior to the shooting and an open channel to the USSS makes that possibility seem very remote. I keep coming back to the idea that somebody in the USSS chain of command had them holding fire (either through incompetence or malice; and I don't think malice can be ruled out yet), until the shooter fired and then the snipers took matters into their own hands.

He went to college, don't blame you for not knowing it... find it odd since they never mention any of his college classmates and haven't interviewed any of them or any of his college profs

They finally dug up some online postings.

https://nypost.com/2024/07/18/us-news/trumps-would-be-assassin-thomas-crooks-wrote-chilling-online-post-foreshadowing-rally-shooting-report/

Quote:

Would-be Donald Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks wrote a chilling online message that hinted to sinister plans for the day he shot up the former president's Butler, Pa. rally over the weekend.

"July 13 will be my premiere, watch as it unfolds," the 20-year-old gunman allegedly wrote on Steam, a popular online platform where gamers communicate with one another, Fox News reported.

The foreshadowing message was revealed to US senators during a briefing with top law enforcement officials on Wednesday.

Crooks, 20, also had images of the Republican presidential nominee as well as President Biden on his cellphone, and searched the dates of the Democratic National Convention and Trump's Pennsylvania rally - where he shot the 45th president from a nearby rooftop, law enforcement sources told The Post.

Investigators are mining through the shooter's phones and computer in search of answers to the assassination attempt - but have not yet identified a motive.

I thought we already had a statement from one of the snipers saying they had him under surveillance but their orders were not to fire first and even after the shots they just acted on their own to takr him out. Later they were told not to speak and it may have been scrubbed but I swear that happened in the first 6 hours atfer. Or was that unconfirmed to be an actual sniper? It was some social media post.

Regarding the photograph though - even if you knew it was coming and wanted to get that image timing it to the 1/3000th of a second necessary would be impossible by human reaction, unless you were just taking 3000 pics per second for several seconds. Randomly it is possible of course. There was no speed factor involved in capturing his iconic Bush 9/11 photo just had to be there. This one seems highly lucky to me thats all. The fact that he was there is not surprising,
