Dallas Alexander, ex-military sniper's take on the situation.

1. No way the shooter didn't have help or was allowed to get that close.
2. If you were skilled enough to get into that position to make an assassination attempt, there's no way you wouldn't be skilled enough to make the shot in the first round.

The two points together are still very strange to me. If he was allowed to get into shooting position, or had help, there's no way whoever helped him wouldn't have someone so incredibly skilled at shooting that it would be a done deal.

Exactly. Blue diamond for you.

As the famous quote says, "Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence."
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Not that hard to believe. He hit the target and would have been fatal had he not turned head and leaned in.

Given the number of agencies, people, and time required, I find it extremely hard to believe.
You're using critical thinking. Most people today just want to hear what confirmation bias of what they already believe is true, and will ignore, dismiss, or attack anyone/anything which goes against their bubble.

Look at how often the 4Chan hoax keeps being repeated with people absolutely believing it to be real.

This right here.

Instead of arguing over how hard a shot is from 135 yards should be discussing how he came to want to kill Trump and how he would do it. Where are his conversations and with whom on reddit dark web etc.....not that were ever going to see them.

He wasn't on the rifle team. He tried out and didn't even make JV according to another kid who was on the team.

Where did you see the shooter was on a rifle team? Hell, I've seen people post that he was employed by Blackrock, so I don't know what to believe anymore.

I was discussing this same thing the other day that Trump should hire private security made up of former Tier 1 folks that have been former MARSOC, Seals, Delta & Rangers operators.

You guys that like conspiracy theories are going to have a field day with this one but the truth is almost certainly just gross incompetence

It's just like everything else in our society. Everything is breaking down. I see it every day and I know at least some of yall do to.

We can't host a soccer game anymore without thousands of fans storming the gates.
We can't play a golf tournament anymore without protestors harassing the players
All of the border towns in the South are no goes now.
Delays and travel issues with airlines have become the norm.
Random shortages at the grocery store still happen and happen often.
We won't even acknowledge the drug issues. Everywhere. In every circle and every neighborhood.
We have not had a national election free of fraud accusations in over a decade.
Cops are grossly incompetent
Schools are failing

List is endless.

Of course the USSS is not as capable as it once was. I am not at all surprised. Not in the least. I am surprised it didn't happen sooner, to Biden or Trump.

When you become a green beret and level 1 sniper, come back and give me your opinion….until the, I'll listen to actual professionals….

it sounds insane to me that on a 100 degree day, on a hot roof, with a police officer poking his head up behind the shooter, knowing you are about to die, you were not in the military but a dork:

why didn't he hit a 1 foot target from 400 feet away!!

You still have to find someone willing to die because it's a suicide mission. That probably reduces the applicant pool dramatically.

Tens of thousands of 18-22 year olds convert from Republican to Democrat every year. It's called modern "higher education". It's not difficult to fathom that he was raised conservative, registered as an R at age 18, but then somewhere in the past two years converted through exposure to leftist talking points online.

Like everything, the CIA spies on everyone and knew this was about to happen.
  • They purposefully left open the best spot for a shot.
  • They purposefully didn't staff SS adequately.
  • They purposefully put agents on Trump that were such bad SS agents, they ducked at the first sound of fire instead of going to protect Trump. There is a photo of this.
  • They knew this was about to happen as just a little while ago, the left put a bill that would strip Trump of all SS support.

The list goes on and on and on....
Everyone's instinct is to duck when they hear gunfire. Even trained people duck/ It's human nature. They got on him pretty quickly after the first shot.

and the CIA does not assign agents. That the USSS/Homeland Security.

Two ex-military snipers who actually prepped the field for protecting high value personnel (presidents, prime ministers, etc.) and they are both unequivocally stating that the assassin had to have had help from somebody on the inside. Like there is no doubt about that fact. None.

I don't understand how anyone can attribute all of this to incompetence. Incompetence on the part of some or even many, sure. But that incompetence was being exploited by someone to place that shooter on the roof.

LOL...crawling across a roof does not tank any skill. A 10yr old could do it. There was what looked like a permanent access ladder in one of the photos posted. Maybe he pre-staged his rifle a few days before somewhere on site, got access to the building, got his rifle and scaled the ladder. None of that takes much skill.

And from the video's I've seen, Trump turns his head slightly before the bullet grazed his ear. If he doesn't turn his head, he'd be dead.

Not that difficult for just an average deer hunter. So if someone or some intelligence or government wanted Trump dead, they would've vetted a trained sniper who could make that shot in their sleep. Maybe I'm crazy but it doesn't make sense unless it was pure incompetence by security to let him get that close.

The problem is there are so many people who have been completely programmed to think that everything is now a "deep state" conspiracy against Trump.

So when this happens; they are simply incapable of believing that a crazy person did this of his own accord. They start from the position that it HAS to be a massive, nefarious plot against Trump, where hundreds if not thousands of people plotted it for months or years, but ****ed it up by hiring a 20 year old who couldn't get it done.

QAnon broke the brains of so many people on the right that they will never recover.

Where he went wrong was that he was going for a headshot and didn't aim center mass. He actually had a good bead on his head but Trump (through Devine providence, or dumb luck) turned his head at precisely the right time that the round only grazed his ear. If he had aimed center mass, he would have hit him easily and likely killed him or at least seriously maimed him. (It didn't appear Trump was wearing a vest).

Just like with mass school shootings and other crazy events, the goal is chaos and destruction not accuracy. "They" have a playbook for this: get a kid who has some desire to be in the military while has a grudge against authority, ensure he is juiced up on psychotropic drugs, have the FBI groom him up via internet/phone, use mind control techniques, let him loose. There are books and examples of this happening for decades, people just dont want to believe it.

If the powers at be used a true professional, that is an admission of guilt beyond all reason of doubt and the general public will be quite upset. Odds are high a shooter regardless of experience is going to die in a case like we saw on Saturday, so why choose one with ties to professional service that erase all doubt in the public's mind?

Instead groom an unstable kid, give him a manageable shot with favorable conditions and control the variables. Most of the public is too stupid or wont believe what their eyes and ears tell them; they just chalk it up to good ol incompetence and laziness.
