With Texas not allowing THC or Weed, a certain pro-weed demographic will decide to live in places other than Texas.

The second Texas allows weed or weed products into the state, the state will start to see an influx of this demographic moving in...

The aftermath and consequences of weed legalization in places like Colorado have me very concerned about living in areas with a "fully baked" lethargic and possibly "more homeless" population. Their voting habits and the type of candidates they support are also a concern.

Texas will have to decide if this is what they want.
Look at how people in Houston are doing without electricity. Do you really think homeless people are excited about the possibility of coming to Texas if it legalizes weed?

It's way too hot here. They will stay in Denver or LA.

If you don't like Texas then California, Oregon, and Washington are all open for you to move to.

California, Oregon, and Washington for the first time in the history of all 3 states are all in the top 10 most dangerous states: https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/slideshows/10-most-dangerous-states-in-america

Houston's problems in being unprepared are directly related to democrats controlling Houston.

I hope Dan Patrick is Governor after Abbott for the entertainment value of the op melting.

Dan isn't my first choice, but watching CM's pretend to be outraged over him...as their choices for national leadership ruin the country, and Texas democrats continually choosing FAR worse alternatives...is quite amusing.

Yep, it's terrible here. You and other lovers of The Chronic and homeless folks should definitely GTFO while they can! Leave us poor souls that don't care about getting stoned, want send our kids to good schools and have effective government, and let the women in our lives be able to go to the bathroom without some pervert claiming to be a girl checking them out suffer as we aren't as progressive as you are. It will be tough but we will try and manage.

So, I guess I don't understand the arguments people make on this board for legalizing weed.

Are you having a hard time finding grass?
Are you concerned about going to jail for smoking grass?
Is there some major shortage or marijuana?
Are cops raiding homes in your neighborhood because someone smells grass?

I live in a country county that is 90% Republican. People here privately smoke a LOT of weed. More people than most realize. Pot legalization would overhwemingly pass here if anyone thought it was really necessary. Hell I have a neighbor that grows pot in his backyard. Nobody cares.

I guess I don't get it.

Bathroom Dan will be riding high after Trump's victory in early November. Will he use the republicans fall victory as a way to push more aggressive conservative policy?

Probable 2025 bills on the agenda :

- bathroom bill from 2017 legislative session. The guy is salivating to give women and children protections in public bathrooms from transgenders. I don't know how the bill would stop Transgender men from going into women's restrooms, but Dan thinks it will make a huge difference.

- School vouchers. Dan has wanted to hook up wealthy suburbanites with an education tax cut for years now. I think he finally has the support lined up to pass it.

- outlaw THC gummies. Bathroom Dan takes pride in spitting in the face of the majority on issues. A majority of US states are trending in favor of adult use legalization. However, Dan seems to think Texas is some kind of holy land where no sin should be committed on it. Everywhere else is fine. Just keep that non sense out of his holy land.

Anything or anyone else on his hit list for next year? I'm sure he's eager to get to work at this point.
Sounds like California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Illinois or maybe New York is where you need to move to where you will be happy.

God knows there was no weed of any kind in Texas before the proliferation of gummy stores, and the population has soared as a result of people flocking here to take advantage. Now they'll all move to New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Louisiana just to score their evil drugs.

The THC gummies OP is referring to are ALREADY LEGAL. It's the Delta 8-10 stuff. He's talking about a proposal to ban something that has already been on shelves for years, quietly helping people with unsexy problems like chronic pain, insomnia, and anxiety. And yeah - it gets you high too as an added bonus.

I'm always on the side of more freedom. In this instance, we just want the politicians to leave this alone. All the pearl clutching in this thread about "legalizing weed" hasn't happened with these D8-10 THC edibles and vapes on the shelf.

Agree smokers need to be respectful. Same with cigarette smokers. Don't care just don't blow it in my face.

Leave the gummies alone.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Went to a concert in the Burbs of Austin on Saturday and some dude in a dress and a beard apparently was in the Ladies room while my wife was in there. I like the idea of women's spaces being protected and not making them have to feel nervous about going to the restroom out in public. Obviously you DGAF about women feeling safe.

If you think school vouchers are all about a "tax break" you really are clueless. It's about choice and freedom and allowing those who can't afford private school to have access to it. A "wealthy suburbanite" can find a way to send their kid to private school anyway and they typically already have their kid in a good school as those are where the best public schools are. Oh, and it isn't about money, it's about parental involvement. The public schools that spend the most are always the worst schools. My son's public HS is one of the best in the state and they spend about 65% of the average per student in Texas.

Of course none of that really matters to you because your only issue you care about is who will make it as easy as possible for you to get baked anytime you want. I mean that's fine but I really don't understand why you need to stay here if that's the case. Plenty of places you can go and be a stoner and be around people that smell like crap all day. For me the only thing I am opposed to is lighting up in public or driving stoned, though I do think people need to be informed that while there are many worse things than MJ it sure as hell isn't something you should encourage. I have had many friends that love the plant and they all seem to follow the same pattern. Start off slowly and then it becomes a routine, often because they get some benefit from it. Over time though they change. They become less motivated and inspired to do much, it hurts their family life and their work. All of the guys I know who started on it ended up divorced. I'm sure some can keep it under wraps and controlled but for most it slowly becomes a bigger priority for them in life and they tend to fade away, it just seems to suck the motivation out of the people I know and make them care less about those around them be it family or friends. It is much more subtle than harder drugs or even alcohol. The issue I have isn't that MJ is terrible or worse than harder drugs or alcohol, the issue I have is the perception that seems to exist that it isn't harmful at all so people start using it but don't realize the impact.

Anyway, plenty of places you can go and be with like minded folks. I have been very happy here seeing a lot of liberals who are self deporting themselves from Texas, everybody wins.
Well if everybody goes to the private school for an affordable rate, then it really is just the new public school.

That may be the case but school choice isn't necessarily about the outcome of the schools and the dispersion of students, it's mostly focused on introducing accountability back into a system that is wholly unaccountable to its stakeholders.

Hope he does get it passed
"salivating to give women and children protections in public bathrooms from transgenders" how dare he object to a mentally sick man walking in a women's bathroom while women and girls are in there!!

- School vouchers. Dan has wanted to hook up wealthy suburbanites with an education tax cut for years now. I think he finally has the support lined up to pass it. Hope so, just about 10+ years to late for me. Three kids thru private K-8 while at the same time paying school taxes was not fun, but we did it and my now adult kids are much better because of it. Public school system needs a major shake up, it is a mess.

- outlaw THC gummies. Bathroom Dan takes pride in spitting in the face of the majority on issues. A majority of US states are trending in favor of adult use legalization. IDGAF about this one either way.

How about people work harder on the front end to crank up that accountability? It is because it is very hard work and everybody has Netflix shows to watch.

The ones that care will have a much easier time addressing their own situation than expending effort to fix the whole system for everyone. The ones that don't care, well, that's the dysfunction anyway.
