Nope, it doesn't. It's when deciding that it's whatever Trump chooses to say or do at any given moment is what defines what is good for your family or country when it turns cultish.

That has absolutely happened and there is no shortage of it. Just because you vote Trump doesn't make you part of the cult. Not understanding he's very flawed might.

I get it, this isn't the part of the timeline where it's popular to not be 100% gung ho team... but we don't do ourselves any favors by not living in reality.

The reality is there are elements of the cult in Trumps support. That doesn't mean the left means that. They think of all of his support that way because they can't understand any of it. Not sure how moderate that makes me, but just because Biden is worse doesn't mean Trump matches what we need. Cheerleading less bad doesn't solve much in the end.

I might argue that signing on to things that you deep down know aren't true (ie gender theory as an example) is by it's nature "ritualistic". I mean, people don't have to be half naked dancing circles around a tree with tiki torches to be participating in ritual.

Leftism absolutely is a religion. They have all the hallmarks. Their god is government.

A cult is generally built around idolatry of a particular entity that isn't God. Supporting Trump isn't a cult. However, "Trumpism" does have a few members that I think can cross that line. I think I may have met one once. I don't believe there are many of these, but there are a few out there.

But to the extent that these people exist, they aren't unique to Trump. I'd wager that just about every national figure with some level of charisma has followers like this. The cult of Obama was (is) much, much larger and significant that anyone you might say was a member of the cult of Trump.
