Lots and longer commercial breaks. Take soap operas for instance. Those have an hour long running time but less than 35-40 mintes of actual air time. ABC News drops their ad rate for the interview to attract even more advertisers.

There was a movie titled Broadcast News with Holly Hunter and William Hurt in the late 80s. The tricks of the trade is the number of cameras. One camera crew calls for cutaways back to Georgie for reaction shots while Biden is answering off screen. Audio can be dubbed at that point without it being that obvious through the use of looping.

This should be a non-starter for any presidential candidate.

If Biden is the nominee - Democrats lose. If Kamala is the nominee - Democrats lose. Change candidates midstream - Democrats lose. Short of massive cheating, it wil be incredibly difficult for the Democrats to win in November. Trump is very lucky at how this is all playing out.

Predicting a "hero" to parachute in at the last moment. I asked my college age kids if they were excited enough to vote - not really. Asked them if Michelle Obama were the become the nominee and they were absolutely excited.

All Biden's people need to do is have the interview at whatever time of day is "peak" for Biden to function at his level of "100%". Give him softball questions and call it a success. Everyone knows the first question is going to be about the debate and then they'll move on to the things he's done to show his "record". Fifteen minutes gets eaten up by the first question.

Unless the interview is live there's no upside to it. None. It's changing no one's mind.

Biden's team knows it's not going to calm the worries of the voters. I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing this to appease Biden so he can say he did everything he could to stay in the face before he drops out.

I say that because other long time anchors on CNN, MSNBC, NBC News and CBS News were in the journo business first and although willing to do their part for the good of the cause, they are not 100% reliable like George is. He owes everything to the Clintons and they could get him fired (or worse) with one phone call.
