To you first point, we're a generation removed from first gen immigrants in schools. The numbers of non-white applicants and admits reflects that. Their numbers are going up whereas the rest are going down.

Second, all that talk about life outside of school is for the birds. When you're an adult with a family, nobody gives a crap if you were cool and had friends in hs/college. Can you provide for your family and are you happy? That's what it boils down to. As an employer, can you take direction and do your job well and efficiently. It's all excuse making for people who don't want to prioritize their future and that of their future family.

They'll also work harder and be less soft than native US citizens - in general.
For one generation maybe...and only because they are coming from unlivable hellholes with raw sewage in the streets and people pooping in open fields and would suck D to live anywhere else. Their children may work very hard as well, or they may earn a useless degree...but eventualy their bloodline conforms to the culture.

No offense to anyone here, but India and China are sh** countries....I would become a robot who worked insane hours if that was my ticket out.
I'm not hiring in the future, I'm hiring now and I need people who will show up on time, not call in sick after watching Sunday Night Football and drinking too late, won't $#@& off on their phone all day, ………. *

*Im not hiring anyone personally, but manager after manager I know says those things.

Why bother with having a nation at all? All that's needed is an economy apparently. Boomers are insufferable.
I'll bet your business would have had "No Irish" or "No Italians" signs back in the day…….. Gen Z and Millennials are so self centered and whiney.

Most people aren't aware that many of these H1Bs are taken by companies (several of them India-based) for purely offshoring purposes. They bring an Indian employee here and have them act as the funnel / client interface to move as much work back to India as possible.

I want to hire the most qualified candidate. Importing software developers IS NOT CHEAP by any means for US companies. The only reason we ever did this was because we didn't have enough qualified people applying for those tech jobs. They aren't getting paid any less than we would pay someone who is from the US.

And yeah, we have a generation of entitled people who believe that they shouldn't work harder or even smarter. They just want their paycheck and leave.

Perhaps your pay / compensation isn't up to market for those roles? Unless there are other constraints (e.g. undesirable location), offering a higher salary should attract more native applicants.

We are highly competitive salary wise. It's been a problem in Austin for years. And LOL like we only hire Indians. We have hired from all over the world, most recently from Poland. They all have want to become US citizens.

Yeah, in Austin you have the opposite problem- highly desirable place to live, which has driven up the COL. Unless you are one of the big players riding the latest tech wave, it is hard to justify paying what it takes to afford a home and similar lifestyle that is more affordable elsewhere.

I'd rather foreigners take jobs in the U.S. rather than what's happening now among big corporations and that is outsourcing. All these companies are following the McKinsey gameplan of global standardized processes and jobs sent to low cost countries.

Yea! How dare they do what's best for the company that puts food on their table. Much more important to make sure all of those jobs go to people who don't perform as well out of some nebulous desire to "save the nation."

My GF's half Arab, but her Mom's Lur (light skin with green eyes). She also really really likes rock music, from Bob Dylan to Queen to Pink Floyd. My features are as Northern European as they come. Will our child be Western enough? Should I be worried she likes Leonard Cohen? I just don't know about Canadians.

Not to mention advocating for hiring by race over talent or performance. Always great when "conservatives" out themselves as liberals.
