Here's scary. CNN saying the Trump campaign is creating a conspiracy by calling us a Republic. Why is everything so dramatic with the liberals?

I don't think CNN is. I think they just know their viewers are.

They can create a narrative that's just dumb, but if their listeners believe it, they win. Fortunately, all 6 of their viewers don't really matter.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.
And to the republic for which it stands.
One nation, under God. Indivisible (yeah, right).
With liberty, and justice, for all except Donald Trump.
Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

This explains why my coworker was asking us about this today.

He thought he had a gotcha question, and as usual it blew up in his face.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

CNN isn't that dumb to think it is a "threat to democracy" but CNN is smart enough to know that if they frame it that way, some people will believe it is a "threat to democracy".

The only people that are a threat to democracy are the Democrats.

The "threat to democracy" narrative repeated to a ludicrous degree has had some effect on the elderly and low information voters that comprise a good portion of the CNN audience, so they are pushing the narrative pretty hard still.

CNN is stupid and wrong here, but the whole, "We're not a democracy. We're a republic," line is not the gotcha that some people seem to think it is.

We ARE a democracy and we ARE a republic. Specifically, we are a republic that takes the form of a representative democracy.

So both sides are right and equally stupid for saying the other side is wrong.

Imagine carrying water for a ****ty news station that calls an indisputable fact a "conspiracy theory" by trying to "both sidez!!!!!" it.

The difference between a pure democracy and a Constitutional Republic used to be a commonly taught knowledge that was part of every civics/political science class curriculum, and was commonly understood.

This is what you get when the Marxists take over academia as well as the media.

The United States is a Constitutional Republic (Dear CNN a clue is in our country's name).

There are democratically elected officials at the national, state, county and city level but we are not Democracy. In order to protect minority views our Founding Fathers went to great lengths to prevent mob rule. The most serious threat to this original vision was the amendment removing state legislatures appointing Senators and institution of popular elected Senators.

It's a bad look for people that fundamentally know we as a nation are a Constitutional Republic but stumble explaining it to an agenda driven POS "journalist".

Over 2,000 years ago some of the greatest minds understood that strict Democracy was ill conceived.

  • Dictatorship naturally arises out of democracy, and the most aggravated form of tyranny and slavery out of the most extreme form of liberty.
Plato

  • "It has been observed by an honorable gentleman, that a pure democracy, if it were practicable, would be the most perfect government. Experience has proved, that no position in politics is more false than this. The ancient democracies, in which the people themselves deliberated, never possessed one feature of good government. Their very character was tyranny; their figure deformity."
Alexander Hamilton, Speech to Congress, June 21, 1788

Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”
Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Edward Carrington, January 16, 1787

It ain't hard to understand.

A republic is a representative form of government that is ruled according to a charter, or constitution, and a democracy is a government that is ruled according to the will of the majority.

The gumps at CNN and the like will then say but shouldn't the majority rule? Morons.

You tried to say "both sides" were wrong. CNN/the left in general is wrong. Everyone who said it was a constitutional republic was right. So, therefore, you were wrong.

hope this helps.

And yes, you seem to take a contrarian stance to almost anything, including indisputable facts, to carry water for Dementia Joe and his band of lunatics.

The reason this is a discussion is because Democrats started claiming that Gore should be President in 2000, because he won the Popular Vote.

"We live in a Democracy, he won." So, they said.

They also claim Hillary should be President because she got the popular vote.

"That's how a Democracy works," they said.

Well, 2 things about our Republic that everyone should know:

1. We have a Constitution that recognizes our Declaration of Independence that proclaims certain "Unalienable Rights" that the Government cannot take away regardless of the label anyone wants to put on our form of Government.

2. We do NOT vote for the President. We vote for a slate of electors that represent our State.

We should NEVER give up the Electoral College. NEVER!!!

Democrats want to abolish the Electoral College and as a result move us to a direct election for President who would be selected by the majority vote of the entire population, regardless of state or validity.

If you ask 100 Americans who they voted for... 99.999% would not recognize the ECV.

THAT is the problem... not the label one might use.

We are NOT a Country that divided itself into regions, provinces, or districts, in order to decentralize our Federal Gov.

We are a collection of States that have agreed to join together for the betterment of the whole. They agreed to Limited Powers expressed specifically. ALL other Powers not enumerated were left to the State.

As a result... the Federal Elections, which are empowered to the States... not the Federal Gov are to use their representation proportionally to what they've been given.

You cannot vote in a Federal election to pass by popular vote what can and cannot be applied to the entire country. It was by design.

Each state uses a Democracy... but what other Democracy power is Federal?!

By definition, a republic is a representative form of government that is ruled according
to a charter, or constitution, and a democracy is a government that is ruled according
to the will of the majority. Although these forms of government are often confused,
they are quite different. The main difference between a republic and a democracy is
the charter or constitution that limits power in a republic, often to protect the
individual's rights against the desires of the majority.
