In a ruling at the beginning of March the court says it violates the Voting Rights act to verify US citizenship to vote in federal elections. Millions of illegal immigrants allowed in. Courts saying citizenship not required to vote. FedGov taking steps to register voters in states (illegals? strange numbers of undocumented registration requests?) It is all coming into focus.

There was a time in this country when politicians would get hanged for this behavior. And this country was a better place for it.

It's all going according to the plan the Democrats have been working for years. No country can prevail for long against this kind of lawlessness and treachery. In their quest for power they are destroying everything that has made this country great, and slowly turning it into a third world socialist state.

Requiring US citizenship in federal elections is another thing the GOP controlled House and Senate should have done but didn't during the beginning of Trump's term.

(Since judges have to be lawyers)

How is this even "a thing"?

If I were to illegally immigrate to, say, Russia and then claim to have a say in their governance, I'd be rightly jailed and, probably, expelled. WTF are these people smoking!?

They're now very openly saying "We let in tens of millions of illegals aliens and we fully intend to let them vote to keep us in power. If we can't get American citizens to vote for us, we'll import in citizens of other countries and let them overrule you!"

https://www.usa.gov/who-can-vote

Quote:

Who can and cannot vote
Learn if you meet the qualifications to vote in federal, state, and local elections.
Who can vote?
You can vote in U.S. federal, state, and local elections if you:
  • Are a U.S. citizen (some areas allow non-citizens to vote in local elections only)
  • Meet your state's residency requirements
  • Are 18 years old on or before Election Day
    • In almost every state, you can register to vote before you turn 18 if you will be 18 by Election Day.
    • Some states allow 17-year-olds who will be 18 by Election Day to vote in primaries.
  • Are registered to vote by your state's voter registration deadline. North Dakota does not require voter registration.
Who cannot vote?
  • Non-citizens, including permanent legal residents, cannot vote in federal, state, and most local elections.

Are they saying you do not have to be a citizen to vote in federal elections or that you cannot require "proof" of citizenship to vote?
IndividualFreedom

You just have to require proof of US Citizenship and do not allow non-citizens to vote. As a state, you just do it and do not ask for permission.

Legally, the first is unconstitutional on its face. And will be struck down asap. Hence, the question.

I'm registered to vote in Arizona and had to show my birth certificate. Maybe that's because I looked like a guy that won't vote for the regime.

It's the latter. If I read the laws correctly, it's the responsibility of the county recorder to prove that someone isn't eligible to vote. It's not the responsibility of the person registering to vote to prove that they are a US citizen.

Yes, but will that be before or after the November election?
Tom Fox

The first would be struck down by the circuit court before the election. It clearly violates the constitution.

I am unsure on the second. I'm an attorney but not an election law attorney.

If a person cannot offer proof that they are a citizen, is that not proof that they are not a citizen?

I'm registered to vote in Arizona and I've never had to show anything. When I got my AZ DL, I did have to present my valid DL from the state I relocated from and a bill from my then current address. Voter registration and Permanent Mail-In Voter List followed from that one appointment.

ETA: this was in Cochise county which is a lot redder than Maricopa. YMMV.

If you don't require proof of citizenship then citizenship is not actually a requirement to vote

Just think if guns worked that way.

"You have to be over 18 and not a felon to purchase this, but we can't ask you for proof of either of those items…"
