Peaceful protest, as stupid as they are, are allowed and I'm cool with that. Keep an eye out though, I'm sure some shady stuff is happening same as during BLM and the Sully stuff.

  • They plan on flyering for First Friday in DT Bryan.
  • Tuesday, May 7th at Rudder Plaza they are planning a "Rise up Against Genocide" protest from 5:30 PM - 8 PM

Thinking someone should take a food truck up there and make some money, because most of the likes on Instagram are hefty white lib women. They will get tired of protesting and want to fuel their fatassness pretty quick

Wow I had forgotten about them totally until you said that. I'd love to see some of their 90s literature, particularly between '94 and '99. I'm curious how they structured their appeals, and if student safety was even on their radar. I'm guessing it barely made their top 10 talking points.

I could easily imagine that being a small group that was hopelessly trapped in the icy grip of groupthink...just alternately spouting off and rubberstamping each others' appeals to emotion, based on their thoughts and feelings prior to ever stepping foot on our campus...

IMO that's an example where good faith criticism from "the opposition" plus constructive engagement (sans groupthink and temper tantrums) could have made an entire world of difference. But hey I'm just trying to avoid the banhammer myself
If I remember correctly the gist of their argument was deforestation. Remember this was when the left was fear mongering over the rain forests and telling us to bag our groceries in plastic. I miss paper sacks.

Reminds me of the anti-Apartheid 'shanty shack' in the early 1990's that used to be built on the east side of the Academic Building. Every morning, the protestors would peacefully build it, and every night 'unnamed students' would peacefully disassemble it and leave the parts in a neat stack.
You can't fix stupid.

There is no way that January 6th can be compared to October 7th. Innocent women and children were massacred on October 7th and people were taken hostage by Hamas terrorists. Only one unarmed female protester was killed on January 6th.

Hundreds of Aggies have died for their right to do exactly what they are doing, peacefully protesting. Even if we disagree with there message, they have the right to be heard. We should be proud of them for not embarrassing us like the protesters at tu have embarrassed their school.

OP: I'm sorry, I don't understand what you find so offensive about the situation. Could you please elaborate?
The fact that they are supporting terrorists. How much elaboration do you need to understand that is offensive. I could care less that they are doing it in a calm manner.
OK thank you for the clarification.

Well then that opens a fun game. I could claim that Trump supporters are terrorists because of the crimes that "they" committed on Jan 6 2021. Then I'd be entitled to get as indignant as OP the next time College Republicans hold a meeting to, like, plan a bake sale.

Just kidding, that's not a fun game. But it is fun to point out that OP's logic goes nowhere (at least not in a free country ) and therefore their whole point, being nothing but grasping for emotional resonance, is tantamount to a young small child's whining.
If you think that is the same, Fatboy.........go for it.

Of course. But Jan 6 was nonetheless extremely offensive to most Americans. This is a pro-Palestinian protest, not a pro-Hamas protest. College Republicans could even be pro-Trump, but not pro-Jan 6.

But if OP gets to connect the dots in his head and proscribe pro-Palestinian events, by the same logic, someone else gets to connect the dots and proscribe College Republican (or just pro-Trump) events.

I understand that it's natural to want to attack that conclusion, especially when you have strong sentiment against the event, and that's **exactly** why the Bill of Rights has stood the test of time.

As long as it's peaceful and doesn't cause material harm, they're protected. And what protects them needs to be protected. Ergo calling out OP for positing a discussion at loggerheads with it.
Ask yourself 3 questions:

2) Do I spend all my energy barking when I hear a dogwhistle?
3) If this was me, how would I even know?

I'll take exception to this statement. There are two realities surrounding that "event"…. it was a more-or-less peaceful protest that grew organically and spontaneously from grass roots Americans, that resulted in nearly a million people showing up in support of a President, and to protest what was obvious to them a corrupt election process.

But simultaneously, there existed a Deep State driven undercover operation to infiltrate and instigate violent and nefarious behaviors and acts for propaganda purposes. We have seen that operation play out over these succeeding three plus years, with scores of individual becoming effectively political prisoners, most of whom were arguably entrapped and charged with trumped up crimes. It was ALL a sham and a hoax perpetrated upon conservative Americans in an attempt to consolidate the election that had just been stolen!

So again, many/most Americans are offended by what took place on January 6 (and before), but not for the reasons you might think.

There are what 70,000 students at A&M?
I'm guessing about a 1000 muslims at least?
They got, what 75 to show up?

Again, Muslims (and numerous 3rd world countries) have "sided" with Palestinians over Israel for a long time. Its the white kids in there that should be embarrassed.

Agree completely, a friend attended the rally, he said it was really obvious that "someone" had organized the entire Capitol breach. Either military looking guys, folks with ear phones in etc. trying to push the crowd towards the Capitol. He indicated that it just didn't smell right to him and he went back to hotel.

A whole lot of people got caught up in the frenzy, and are enjoying some incarceration.

I am sure you think that a lot of others' viewpoints are "stupid." But, can you see that all you are doing is begging the question of whether or not the protest is acceptable? The Bill of Rights has already spoken on that issue; you (and OP) are at best wasting your time and at worst undermining our freedom.

Now there are forms of protest that would be unacceptable (e.g. graphic violent or sexual imagery) and types of support that would be unacceptable (e.g. sending dollar bills to known terrorist groups). There are laws against these that have been duly debated and examined by our government. Violating these norms would, rightfully, bring about criminal consequences.

What you or I think is "stupid" is not the question, although I'm not sure you're willing to admit that.

There was nothing obvious to me. I stood on the steps for more than two hours, and the crowd never got out of hand. Even when a group of about 30 "storm troopers" marched into our midst, in full riot gear. They forced their way into the middle and were swallowed up by the crowd. Don't remember what ever happened to them as they disappeared. Three people collapsed nearby us, and were carted off. But we've all seen the videos of instigators, and of course Ray Epps has been outed as a government agent, although to my knowledge, nothing has come of it.

a.) they are unpopular, ugly losers with no friends
b.) they are still virtue signalling that mUh PaNdEmIc isnt over
c.) they are ImMuNoCoMpRoMiZeD or claim to be "Long" Covidians
d.) they dont want to be identified and doxed because they are weak ******* with indefensible positions.

Take your pick, b,c are just excuses, a or d is likely the real reason.
I would guess overwhelmingly (d), although (a) is usually not wrong.
