Hummm. That's a tough call. That's the same excuse institutions have used to deny speech to conservatives.

Don't agree with this. Not surprised a Cali university is involved here.

Usc is usually pretty reasonable relative to politics and the schools around them. Good folks MORE of the time than Berkley, etc. This is a tough one. If a real physical threat, then they have to protect the kids. If not, the rules should be (for conservatives too)... this is a college. Let the kids hear and decide. I hate it when the elites think they have to protect the kids politics wise. College is supposed to challenge you a tad. The problem is when they start evangelizing for left leaning nonsense.

I would rather students, and society at large, just make these Hamas/terorist supporters feel very unwelcome and unsafe in general. Institutions shouldn't violate their rights...society should make them feel like either going back to their sh**holes or shutting the F up though. That is how a proper society is supposed to function.

Almost everything about these a-holes is incompatible with America and Western civilization.

In America, we need to have the ability to ridicule stupid ideas. Otherwise, stupid people won't realize that they're stupid until they do something stupid that hurts.

I used to always think that way...and I fully support ridiculing the enemies of this country and our culture. But that just seems to embolden them. I am growing more and more convinced that violence is the only way to deal with the worst of the worst in societies. It seems like that's the only language they will understand. Until then, they will continue to burn down city blocks when mad, block roads, halt air travel etc etc.

1) A college with a valedictorian? Huh... Ok...

2) Unless they have credible intel that she was going to somehow start something or use her mmicrophone to somehow instigate something, she should be allowed to speak.

3) I'm not a fan of the shouting down speakers either. It's a tactic used by the left when they don't want to hear something.

4) Perhaps they could shut her down if she were using the podium to instigate or in some way attempting to workup the crowd or rabble rouse? If she were to get up there and foment a riot, then turn off the microphone and escort her from the stage

Well, this is something that has to happen at the elementary/middle school level while they are learning.

Also, need to get rid of participation trophies. You don't get a prize just for showing up. Earn something.

That said, on the original topic, I doubt very much that I'd like what this student/graduate/whatever has to say, but the university has no business restricting their speech. That's a 1A violation. 1A doesn't protect you from the wrath of public opinion when you say something dumb or unpopular. The person in question should be free to speak their mind and deal with whatever consequences come their way.

And they can... On their own time.

Detouring a graduation speech to talk about Palestinian terrorists and her Jewish hatred isn't on topic for the occasion.

It reads that they met about her speech and didn't like the direction it was going. She seemed to refuse to change and so she wasn't allowed to speak.

If I give a speech for my company and it isn't on message and I refuse to change it, they have the right to not allow me to speak.

The problem lies in that stupid people NEVER learn. That is the difference between stupid and dumb. Dumb people will learn.

A good example are criminals. They are stupid for they keep on getting caught, going to prison, getting out, and committing more crime.

The same goes for liberals for they have been so thoroughly brainwashed that they will not change their way of thinking. Present a liberal facts that goes against what they believe and they either attack you or give you that "deer in the headlights look" like there is no one home.

Everybody should be able to speak in America. Isn't that exactly what the 1st Amendment is all about.

She's a Muslim. Their, Muslims, agenda isn't a secret. They are patient. They want your head. On a stick.

"... by the left". Sometimes you just have to play by their rules. **** 'em.

Shut her down by not letting her use the podium as a political tool. It's an academic institution, not the ****ing halls of Congress. **** 'em.

No.

First Amendment doesn't protect speech that can incite violence. Not saying USC student was doing exactly that or not.

I'd somewhat agree.

USC started with an affiliation with Methodist church though not anymore since the 50's. Surprised they didn't name the school Western Methodist University.

Sure it does. It bars speech that can incite IMMINENT violence or lawless action. Be very careful with your words here. The left says EVERYTHING is violence when they don't like it. We don't want this to be gauge of whether we allow speech.

Leftists often cite "I feel unsafe" with something as ridiculous as a conservative speaking about conservative things and get things shut down as a result. Its nice for once to see them impacted by their own tactics.
