This was just sent to me and I wanted to share it with all y'all on Forum 16.

We all know the State of Texas is huge. Most don't know about the TEX-A-PLEX. Do you?

It will blow your mind!!!!

The triangular region framed in by the cities of Austin, DallasFort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio is experiencing a wave of growth of historic proportions more than anywhere in the world.

In 2020, the population of the Texas Triangle reached nearly 21 million.

the Texas Triangle contains five of the 20 largest cities in the U.S., and was home to more than 70% of all Texans: City of Dallas, City of Fort Worth, City of Austin, City of Houston and City of San Antonio

The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is bigger than all of Manhattan.

The The University of Texas at Austin is the third largest land owner in the United States.

San Antonio is bigger than New York City and Detroit combined.

Houston has a bigger population than Colorado and 34 other states.

Four of the top ten metro statistical areas are in Texas.

The Texas economy is on fire. The state added 660,000 new jobs last year more jobs than any other, and twice the number of new jobs compared to its historical average. With Dallas by far leading the growth.

50,000 jobs a month, I mean, that's almost 2,000 jobs a day every day of the week for an entire year.

No state income tax

The Tex-a-plex is home to over 50 Fortune 500 companies. And has more Fortune 1000 companies than any other state.

At 2.4 TRILLION, Texas is ranked as the 9th largest economy among nations of the world by GDP, ahead of Canada, South Korea, Russia, and Australia.

Texas is the largest exporter of goods in the United States

Dallas is home to the fourth most BILLIONAIRES in the world.

Houston has more than 5,000 energy related firms and is the energy capital of the world.

The Texas Medical Center is the largest in the world located in Houston.

25% of ALL retail space in the United States is in Texas.

Austin is the live music capital of the world. South By Southwest Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater (ACL Live)

The are 12 professional sports teams in the Tex-A-Plex.

You can further your education in the great state of Texas at any one of the 159 universities and colleges in order to prepare yourself for a successful and prosperous career. Including 6 medical schools.

Texas A&M University has an enrollment of 74,829 the largest student body in the United States

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

i am pretty confident stating that on any given night, LA and Chicago have more live music venues and bands playing live music than austin does.
Maybe, I mean Austin has it all over and they do have the 2 huge music festivals. Even midweek you probably have 30 or more options of qualify live music to choose from and usually free, weekends it's all over. The quality level is also extremely high. I would actually say Nashville is the only other place like it.

dumb.

you assume status quo if texas leaves.

lots of big businesses will relocate to the 49 where the vast majority of their business resides.

lots of the OIL industry will as well so they do not have to deal with import/export taxes with teh US from TX. plus they too will go where most of their customers are.

the banks/finance centers will all relocate.

American and SW will relocate

the military industrial complex will leave

business will be redirected from the port of Houston to New Orleans and elsewhere because no one is going to want an additional international middleman.

many will relocate because they want to retain their social security, VA benefits, etc.

and on

and on and on.

it is a fantastic marketing strategy. but likely not truth.
I'd bet on Nashville more than LA or Chicago, but Austin is on the short list.

My favorite statistic about Texas is that every country in the EU can fit inside our state. I hate when Europeans or even Americans compare crap in Europe to the US, it's impractical to manage a country the size of the US the same as the countries of Europe.

Are these brags or just statements of fact? The no income tax thing is a joke too. Our property taxes are outrageous and more than make up for most state's income tax.

That's a feature in a border state. People can work off the books for cash and completely evade income tax. But everyone who pays rent is paying property tax.

I know you're joking but I think the reason it is brought up so often here is to discuss how it would ever happen (no shot. Ever. IMHO)

Not a discussion of if we could hang on our own economically etc if it ever happened. But even then our 9th largest economy in the world would not be near the same when you think about supply chain, manufacturing, and trade with our "new neighbors". All the texit folks don't understand basic global economic trade and supply chain when they tout these stats.

Just my 2 cents. Not trying to derail.
