Is this part of Texas run by democrats / progressives? Am concerned the filth, squatting, crime etc will spread to the Sun City neighborhood. Anyone know?

Thank you!

I have an aunt and uncle that moved there from the east coast. She's a raging liberal Jewish woman from Connecticut and loves her community, so take that for what it's worth. Uncle was born and raised in Texas but was Navy for a long career, he's a closet conservative, would not dare cross her

Lived just outside Sun City. Yes there is a toxic far left element and far right elements. The lefties were led by some nut job doctor. Its a big place with all kinds of lifestyles and mentalities. Overall I didn't care for the place. I loved my property to the southwest of there. I just hated the extortionist insane property taxes. We'd pay all these taxes and maybe get a shovel load of asphalt for our county road.

Georgetown is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. It's a great area but will eventually be overran by Californians.

In-laws live there and my buddy/coworker here in CO who's from Maine mom lives there. As previously mentioned I think it's all the transplants from across the country that leads to the leftist politics there.

My parents live in old people USA (Sun City). Their entire street is very conservative. My brother's in-laws also live there. They are very democratic. I'm sure it either one extreme or the other.

Have lived in G'town since 1987. Our original home was just west of where Sun City is now. It was a sleepy, quiet little town then.

As said above G'town is the fastest growing town in the country. Met with the City Manager last month at a meeting. He stated that we can't keep up with the traffic. That's just the way it is. Williamson County will eventually be more populated than Travis County.

The county is more liberal than it used to be but nothing close to what Travis is.

We've lived in Gtown since '95 when there was 15-16K residents. Sun City certainly changed the dynamics of the town, mostly for the better. But, there are a lot of former military residents in Sun City, and a lot of them are Democrats. They're used to the federal tit, I guess.
Williamson County, on the other hand, has seen an invasion of liberals. The suburban areas north of Austin such as Cedar Park and Leander are overrun with Cali implants working for the tech companies. Once the Samsung chip plant in Taylor is up and running, there is a good chance Williamson will be purple at best.

Yeah. My sis lives in Gtown close to Sin City. It is relatively conservative but changing by the year as more people move in. They are also building lots of apartments which is also a concern for future residents…. gtown is still more conservative than other parts of WillCo, but it wont last forever.

They destroyed a lot of trees and countryside to sprawl that monstrosity in every direction. It used to be way down the road from my brother in law's, and now his land practically butts up to it.

We've lived in Gtown for over 20 years now.

I hate Sun City for the most part.

That's all I have to say about that.

My parents are out there and have been for 20 years. Their street tends to be conservative, but there are pockets of everything out there. As someone mentioned it's a pretty good cross section of the Boomer generation.

Went to high school back in the 70's there (military family, Dad a retired jet pilot out of Bergstrom) and folks lived on country club road.....now, those were the days. Over the years it has been the slow creep of austin outwards and much has changed. I don't get back as much now that both parents have passed, but when I do, it is like everything else when a small city growing....too much traffic and a city trying to keep up.
To me, the feel of the city and sun city is that it is turning more liberal and less conservative. I'm not sure if I have much to base that off of other than a feeling and maybe some of the decisions the city has made......green energy. Thought maybe al gore or some other green energy knucklehead said that georgetown was some sort of city model and then it backfired on them. Sun City seems to have a very strict HOA, and I guess in some ways that is good for those that want a nice clean community and good property value. Just seems like a lot of rules.
Again, I'm a 70's kid looking at a city that has drastically changed over time to how I grew up.

Live in a retirement community that is solid red. A couple from California moved in on my street last spring. They've already moved because they said it's hard living around people that are against illegal immigration, abortion, etc. Goodbye.

Move to College Station. Williamson County is going further left.

you think brazos county cannot also shift in a generation, especially since A&M is now a diploma mill?.

Sure, it could go left, but Williamson county voted for Beto against Cruz so it's largely already turned. Brazos County is still pretty reliably red.

I guess I am missing your point. If you are looking to retire to a red area and are choosing between a place that has recently turned blue and one that is red but may turn blue in 10-15 years, the area that is currently red and may or may not turn blue would be preferable to me. And also who wants to spend their retirement in the tu media market?

Also, probably half of the old Ags wouldn't meet the academic standards of the current "diploma mill" A&M.

The legislature needs to fund a border wall around Travis county for the next legislative session.
