Anyone else sick and tired of the constant bombardment of drug company commercials? To me it's ridiculous all the commercials. Why are they bombarding us with commercials when it's the Drs duty to prescribe people drugs… even if someone thinks a certain drug may help them it's the Drs duty to give you a working drug for your condition

What the hell is this all about ? I have had 5-10 people ask me about this and I don't know the answer besides maybe money ?

Of course, money.

They want you to go to your doctor and ask for that medication. There are usually more than one medication available for an ailment.

There are a lot of drug ads and there's a lot of ads in my opinion trying to convince people that they are mentally ill. So many people they don't seem to be able to deal with even minor stress these days. They all blame it on mental health issues. When it's really just a matter of fortitude.

Don't get me wrong, there are people with mental problems and drugs to help them certainly and that's a good thing, but it seem to have gone past that.

I've been tired of them since the 90s when they started pushing Viagra for the Boomers and ADHD pills for kids.

Yep, every commercial break is almost always one for

Ozempic
Breztri
Dupixent
Rexulti
And in the last few weeks, Camzyos

Thankfully haven't been seeing commercials for the Fauci poison lately. I'm sure they'll reappear once the next variant shows up and Pfizer needs more $$$ for their bottom line.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Without the drug commercials, how else am I to know if my erectile dysfunction is low, or if I need medication for depression. Lets not forget about weight loss pills, because lord knows my weight is a contributing factor for depression which is causing my erectile to be low.

Save us oh drugs, we need thee in our lives.

Now that I'm living in the Houston TV market, it's all commercials for Jardiance, and of course Travis Kelce pushing the vax.

When I was living in Los Angeles, the commercials were all about remaining undetectable with your HIV. Based on the commercials, this is especially important if you're a Black man.

If you really want to be shocked at how much the drug ads dominate American TV, go live overseas for a few years. When I was living in Australia, every time I'd come back to the USA, the nonstop bombardment of drug ads was overwhelming.

in the past you went to a doctor who worked for themselves and treated patients

today you go to a doctor who works for a large corporation with the goal of selling you stuff. these medical conglomerates are in bed with pharmacy. their job is to sell you medications to help with one ailment while creating another.

profit and control. that is the answer to your question.

Only two countries in the world allow direct-to-consumer pharm advertising.

US and New Zealand.

And as a result, pharm owns the media.

The ads aren't really to get consumers to get the drugs.

The ads are to bribe the media to continue ignoring all of the terrible things pharm does and all the harm it causes.

Had my doctor cracking up last time when I was in, because right when he was done, I took out a little note from my pocket and asked him about two random drugs I had written down. He gave me a "WTF?" look, and I said "The commercial said I was supposed to ask my doctor about these drugs."

In case anyone was unaware Big Pharma is now the #1 purchaser of television ads on news programming.

Any ideas why... here's a hint?

It's not primarily because they're trying to convince regular people to ask their doctors for these drugs.

Answer = It's their way of buying off the news/media for favorable coverage regarding their products.

THIS is the correct answer. It's not to increase profits, big pharma already has this in spades. It's to be sure that they are never questioned, and any dissent is squashed. See the covid vax for exhibit A.

So many commercials with fat women with diabetes where the solution is never to lose weight, but to take drugs. People always look for the easy way out with the least impact on their vices.

Perhaps we should take note of the drug being pushed in the commercial and avoid it at all costs.

If the Pharma companies funnel ad dollars to these networks for leverage to pull ads should the networks run stories questioning their products, then you can bet they have something to hide about that product.

If government won't outlaw these "bribes" we can certainly vote with our wallets.

My new favorite is Keytruda. It is a cancer drug. I can't imagine a scenario where I'd ask an oncologist to prescribe anything. I'm going to let MD Anderson tell me what works. Btw - a single dose of Keytruda cost $36k. Wonder if we could lower that a bit by not having ads on national television?!?

When I first started watching television, it was in San Antonio in 1955 and the whole city only had 2 or 3 stations and they were only in black&white.
But commercials were so much less intrusive that I enjoyed watching TV more then than I do now.
I've been through shows lately where half the viewing time seemed to be commercials.
Actually, I rarely watch TV now, rather play games on my PC or explore the internet.
