Because republicans don't want to stop illegal immigration. Not one republican president since before WW2 has done anything to fight illegal immigration. Democrats are accelerating at astronomical levels but republicans are just as much to blame.

Eisenhower deported over a million mostly Mexicans in a border enforcement action well after WW2.
That was a lot at the time.

Trump could have/ should have tried to do something about illegal immigration and voting laws right away his first 2 years in office, but I bet the RINOs like Romney, Ryan, McCain, McConell would have all sabotaged it for him, either out of chicken shigtedness, or just to not mess up their gravy trains...

The stunt got stunted.

Don't worry guys, after November they can just whine from the sidelines as the minority party. As they drive the GOP off the cliff. MTG can take over the leadership and just put the stabbing knife into the GOP and kill it once and for all.

I agree if it's an argument over pending legislation. Everybody weigh in with your opinions and try to shape it to your preference. Perfectly understandable.

But refusing to enforce existing law is a dereliction of duty. Immediate resignation or removal from office are the cures for that, with possible jail time if the damages to US citizens are severe.

Both parties are facades for the ruling elites.

The ruling elites LOVE more broke peasants pouring into our country. They are easily to manipulate, they create wealth dilution and barriers for the working class (who elites wish to suppress) and they represent an expansion to their subjects.

None of them, from either "party" have any intention of stopping it.

Against every impeachment from Nixon to this one. Nothing, but politics. The job of Congress is to legislate, so legislate!

Well, impeachment is indeed a political act and is a valid role of congress.

They can clearly do both things.

So if they vote again when Scalise comes back and Moore votes yes as he was planning, that vote passes 216Y and 215N, correct?

Here's what I don't get… what was the urgency in holding the vote today? Why not wait until you know you've got the vote to hold the vote?

Totally agree. That's a rookie error on Johnson's part, along with the failed Israeli aid vote.

You don't hold the vote if you don't have the votes.

Embarrassing incompetency in the R party, from Trump to the RNC, to party leaders in Congress.

A lot of good R governors out there. We need a clean sweep of R party leadership.

I think he opposes misuse of the intent of the constitutions language. If some GOP members believe it didn't meet the level of high crimes and misdemeanors they must vote their conscience. If we keep going down this route we will diminish the definition of high crimes and misdemeanors and it will just be a continual back and forth impeachment process. I'm not saying Mayorkas doesn't suck at his job, but I find it hard to believe those who voted against it did so for reasons other than they just didn't believe it met the standard required. If you look at the short list of successful impeachments of cabinet members, they were pretty egregious and could not be defended as working within the confines of their roles.

My biggest fear is that we are getting into setting up a situation where congress is going to abuse impeachments to rack up political points or as retribution. Which is fine if the R's are in charge....but not good if the power flips.

Cool - so you won't support Trump. Good to know.
My choice is Biden or Trump.

Since I am for America and hate corrupt marxists, I will proudly vote against Zhou Biden, you know, the guy undermining our Constitution (well the people who control him are).
