Big deal. I went to Moscow in 2018 and elsewhere in Russia and I've spent my whole life more anti-Russian than Patton.

And anybody who still associates Russia with communism needs to give politics a break for a while and go read some books written in the last 30 years. After having been there I can tell you that their under-40 crowd is less communist than our under-40 crowd is at this point. considering that the modus operandi for everything putin does is to 1) strengthen russia and 2) weaken the west, it's hard to imagine he'd agree to an interview like this if he didn't think it would advance those causes.
People also need to keep in mind that Tucker is going into an environment that is not exactly friendly to journalists. Asking hard questions to Putin in his own house could actually be the last interview you ever do. Anyone that interviews Putin in person in Moscow will always be very measured because journalists literally disappear there.BMX Bandit said:

I love Tucker but I'll lose a lot of respect for the guy if he sucks up to a brutal thug like Putin and doesn't challenge him near as hard as he did with liberal college chicks on his Fox show.

I have to admit, I'd rather see Rachel Maddow, or any number of other mainstream cable news talking heads/interviewers, interview Putin, instead of Tucker,

I fully expect Tucker to come away with an interview that allows Russia to justify its war with Ukraine without pushing back on it. And maybe even agree with it. And I expect him to agree on camera that the US shouldn't be involved.
I also expect to see him agree on camera with any Russian who says the US is going in the wrong direction or really has anything bad to say about the US for that matter.
His audiences on both sides of the ocean would eat it up. He will use this as opportunity to test boundaries to see what he can get away over here without losing his audience.
I expect the interview to be more about the US than Russia, even in situations where Russia is the topic - allowing Russia an opportunity to pump themselves and drive us down.
An interview like this might be interesting but I have a hard time imagining it'll be informative. It'll be tailor made for confirmation-biased viewers. We already see people here saying they'd rather have Putin than Biden. Or that literally anything is better than a Dem. That will be his target.
At the end of the day, Tucker Carlson is a domestic political pundit and conspiracy theorist - not a geopolitical news reporter. So anybody thinking about this objectively should expect him to go over there and do more of the same. The Russian "guest" will likely be a color commentator.
