Swift is a YUGGGGE lib.

She made the conscious decision to become a lib activist around 2018 or so.

I watch football. I've watched a lot of Chiefs games. I don't remember missing any football when they showed her and I don't recall her saying anything political this season.

They have people who claim not to watch the NFL talking about it. Good for business. I don't get the sense this is something manufactured. Women seem to like strong manly men. Men like beautiful women. Shocking I know.

Not for every game but definitely in Justin Verlander's postseason starts Kate Upton is shown prominently in game broadcasts . Maybe not to the extent Taylor has been shown and promoted this NFL season but famous sports related couples is hardly new . . .

Yeah you're right... Now that I think about it this isn't much different than the mid or late 90's mid-20teens when Aikman Romo briefly dated Jessica Simpson. The cameras cut constantly to her as well. Guess what... Cowboys fans HATED it.

So to the poster above trying to gaslight everyone that this is some liberal vs conservative TSDS thing. No, it's sports fans wanting to watch sports. If I want pop tarts I'll go to the pantry.

On hand, you're right that it shouldn't be political. On the other hand, you're wrong because people decided to be selectively offended along ideological lines. It wouldn't be on this board if Taylor Swift weren't an outspoken supporter of LGBTQ.

Comments like this are what make discussing politics such a nightmare on both sides of the political aisle.

Both sides just want to shout "you're a right wing nut job" or "your a huge snowflake liberal" without giving any context.

I'm in no way saying that TS is not a "YUGGGGE lib" but I am wondering what political statements she's made.

What does that have to do with the post I quoted or my reply?

Everybody knows why they are doing it.

I just said that fans are sick of it and that equating some huge political thing to it is ridiculous.

Inevitably one will dump the other after the season is over. There will be several issues of People magazine with this star crossed couple giving each other the stink eye at the HEB checkout for soccer moms to peruse. And she will write a new hit song about how football players are mean. Really mean.

Knowing that the broadcast director would show a shot of Taylor in the suite after any positive play by #87 was a simple drinking game.

The KC Chiefs are on a good run but Mahomes' 15 seconds have expired.
What?

He's been to SIX AFC Title games in a row. The first five at home. Last week was his first true postseason road game (Superbowl is neutral site).

He's had way more than 15-seconds and is going to have a lot more.

It's extremely middle of the road. Like any halfway respectable pop diva, the gays love her and she loves them back. Like most well-to-do white women, she is not a fan of Trump. I believe her "activism," such as it is, mostly consists of encouraging people at her shows to register to vote.

I have no clue what TS political ideology leans, but I assumed it was left.

I've not heard her make any political statements during this whole thing with Kelce, and I live in KC so it would be out there front and center on talk radio if she did. And since when does supporting LGBTQ make that person wrong or to be hated? Has she come out in favor of trans-affirming care (IE Chopping off body parts) in some way? See, I don't know b/c I just don't see it out there.

Someone else said conservatives hate her and J. Lawrence. This is not true. I don't know anyone that hates either one of them.

I didn't say she was particularly political. But all of her haters seem to be on the right end of the political spectrum. Along with conspiracies that she may run for President as a Dem. People have a way of taking things that shouldn't be political and making them political.

Laura Hawk and the split jersey, 10 years later
Quote:

The most overexposed jersey in Fiesta Bowl history is framed and hanging in a basement, out of sight of ABC's probing cameras, suffocating behind glass after stealing its share of the spotlight.

If you watched the 2006 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, you remember it. You have no choice. It's a permanent scar, branded onto the skin of your subconscious half Notre Dame, half Ohio State.
…
"I didn't regret it," she said. "I wish I had known in advance how much attention they were going to give to that. If I had known I was going to be shown the whole time, maybe I would've handled things differently. Maybe I would have just asked them not to show me during the game or something of that nature. It was one of those things where, in hindsight, I took a lot of criticism for it afterwards. But you live and learn.

"I think people were kind of relieved when the game was over, because they had overexploited it so much that it was kind of getting to the point where it was beating a dead horse."

I blame this thread for making me think about it but remember when everyone was annoyed about the constant cutaways to Brady Quinn's sister (who was dating Ohio State's AJ Hawk) in her split jersey during the '06 Fiesta Bowl?

That was just one game and more or less pre-social media saturation.

I don't get why anyone would be upset about Swift and Kelce. She's another moderate lefty celebrity but she doesn't do anything political during the games. She's a wholesome looking, cute young woman that is at least playing the part of a supportive gf.

If the relationship was manufactured to create buzz for the two of them it has worked brilliantly. I think her music is meh, but not gonna lie, if I hear one of her songs come on during my commute I do listen a few seconds longer than I normally would.

This is all pretty stupid. Every football fan I know gets tired of the cutaways to mom/dad/girlfriend in the stands. It detracts from the game. Football producers always do that to the extreme vs actual player reactions or crowd shots that better capture the feeling of being at the game, and it becomes an irritation.

The T Swift thing is that x 10. For football fans, it's irritating. For people who are only paying attention to football because of T Swift, they don't get it.

Don't overthink it.

Same **** happened when Reggie bush dated Kim kardashian. Kardashian pretended it was all about Reggie, but she loved soaking up the extra attention.

As long as you're not missing any plays I don't see the reason to get upset over it. The broadcast is going to show the gf or wife if they think it's relevant to the story of the game.

I can confirm that it brings interest to woman. My wife watched about 20 mins of the game to get shots of 87 and see Taylor.

Last night my wife sat me down and showed me a video about how the Kelce last name is mispronounced and should be pronounced like "else", but the dad just chose to stop correcting people. I caught myself giving her a look of "why in tf would you think a give two sh**s about this?" But instead nodded in interest.

The State Farm commercials are creative and hilarious. His "15-seconds" are far from over.

And lol at y'all getting bent over Taylor Swift. She's on the screen for less than 2 minutes total in a game, and doesn't detract from any of the game action. No more than Tommy Devito's agent or family, or whichever player's new wife it was that they showed multiple times, or Kelce's mom (who's become a celebrity herself).

This. KC BADLY needs to find receivers next season, and get rid of Kaderious Toney!!!

I believe, though, that Kelce (along with the rest of them) had more drops than usual. Not sure why, but I'm also not blaming TS for that.
