So a guilty pleasure of mine is to view liberal social media and listen to liberal commentators, and a very common thing I've seen lately is men/conservatives supposedly being upset or angry about Taylor Swift being at NFL games and getting air time. The attached image is an example of that.

I haven't seen or heard any men give a crap one way or another about TayTay being with Travis Kelce or at NFL games. I'm wondering if I'm just missing something and there is actually some outrage out there, or if they're just bizarrely making it up.

This and a brief search of the NFL forum showed that I have, indeed, missed it

I recall stories about how Tay Tay bringing in more, and younger female, viewers once she started going to games.

For some reason people got their outrage on for her around the same time.

I'm as conservative as it gets and like that Chiefs have a new fan that is much more popular than Patrick Mahomes or any other NFL star.

I barely knew anything about Taylor Swift before all this. My daughter and wife love her and after listening to her music and hearing several interviews I can see why.

She may be lib, but doesn't throw it out there. She seems as down to earth as any megastar I can think of.

I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift or the Kansas City Chiefs (not a hater by any means just pretty indifferent) and the amount of times the broadcast seemed to cutaway to Taylor after each KC offensive play felt like a bit much/was pretty annoying.

Additionally, the algorithm must have known I was watching the game because the amount of Taylor Swift content (for someone I don't follow, listen to, or really know anything about) that was pushed on my social media feed during/after the game was excessive.

So just like the NFL is trying to tap into a new demographic, so is the Taylor Swift media empire which all makes the whole thing feel pretty contrived.

Buddy of mine that I play fantasy football with picked Kelce pretty high in our draft. Said he wasn't nearly the fantasy player this year than last and blames Taylor Swift for his mediocre performance - by Kelce standards.

Inevitably one will dump the other after the season is over. There will be several issues of People magazine with this star crossed couple giving each other the stink eye at the HEB checkout for soccer moms to peruse. And she will write a new hit song about how football players are mean. Really mean.

Knowing that the broadcast director would show a shot of Taylor in the suite after any positive play by #87 was a simple drinking game.

The KC Chiefs are on a good run but Mahomes' 15 seconds have expired.

My angst about it is how fake the whole thing feels. A football player has a girlfriend. It shouldn't be news. The constant camera cut-aways just because it's Taylor Swift are annoying. You don't see other players wives or girlfriends on camera outside of VERY rare occasions, say birthday or anniversary thing. (Edit to add, another poster added some examples of previous celeb athlete couples below that got a little screen time). Yes the other wives and girlfriends aren't pop-megastars, but she's not the only celeb to attend the games either.

It just feels fake and pushed. She's eating up the publicity, and he showboats right into it. Saw several times on Sunday, he made the play then turned to the suite and smiled with hand hearts. (We've probably seen flags thrown for less).

The NFL is certainly trying to use her to attract fans (I get it). Heck I've heard there are Taylor themed offering at the concession stands!

Maybe they are genuinely in love and will get married and live happily ever after. But again it just feels fake and full of ulterior motives.

I don't watch the NFL but it isn't hard to figure out why people are annoyed. Guys want to watch a football game without the constant cut away to see her in the suite. I'm sure young women would be annoyed if they kept cutting away during a Taylor Swift concert to show some football player in a suite watching it.

Edit to add my opinion on one of those memes. Guys aren't threatened by her, they're just annoyed. The use of the word threatened is so overused and used incorrectly by the left, it's really dumb.

Not for every game but definitely in Justin Verlander's postseason starts Kate Upton is shown prominently in game broadcasts . Maybe not to the extent Taylor has been shown and promoted this NFL season but famous sports related couples is hardly new . . .

It is annoying, because I am not a fan of Taylor swift or the Kansas City Chiefs. What's more annoying is that Mahomes and the chiefs have been in the AFC championship game for 6 straight years.

Everyone involved is using this to make money. That is all they care about. Taylor, NFL, Kelce, they are all doing this to glorify themselves and cash in on it.
