The bunker offers 10,007 sqft of modernized underground space and is located just 35 minutes away from Kansas City.

"In an era where even technology titans are grabbing headlines for their investments in personal safety, such as his end-of-the-world bunker, this property emerges as a true testament to visionary planning," the Zillow listing said.

- $2MM on a doomsday bunker
- 35 Miles from a metropolitan area
- 10K SF of luxury and tools to rebuild the world

- Telling everyone in the world exactly where it is located and how it is equipped and laid out.......Priceless!!!!

I was reading some of the comments and one guy nails it........... Says something about adding this location to his apocalyptic bunker map.

No doubt there are those that have collected these locations creating the ultimate challenge of conquering all of them during an apocalyptic event.

Too close to the horde.

I'd prefer to be 100+ from metro area

Interesting business case.

More buyers but less serious about the bunker would be better if the location was advertised.

But buyers serious about the bunker would not want the location advertised.

I'd be curious which advertisement path would sell for more.

Contradiction.

Our son had a friend who lived just outside of Canyon. They used to ride bikes out there after school or from our house. After the family moved and sold the property, the buyer made it into a survivalist compound, with 11 foot walls and underground bunkers.

To quote our (now adult) son, "I'd build my compound further from town than the bicycling range of Junior High boys.

Looks like it was the trim/cabinetry/fixtures and furniture are something that you could get at Seconds and Surplus and garage sales.

Yeah probably not luxury, but definitely big.

35 minutes away from Kansas City wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. Advertising its location probably would, though.

It looks like an old missile silo with the top few floors cleaned up.

Anyplace within a gas tank distance of a major population center will be looted within two weeks.

where you can live NOT within 370 miles of a major population center?

instead of finding the old thread on the EMP explosion from last week

I'm reading "One Second After" about what happens to the USA when a nuclear attack takes out all electronics.

it is horrifying

where is the BEST place to be when this happens?

I was thinking Hilton Head Island with one bridge ingress/egress

but fresh water will be running out, and I am not sure if there is a fresh water river on the north side of the Island or if it is still salt water

Park Creek is likely drainage retention and fresh. The remainder will be tidal, brackish creeks.

I remember when all the talk about Y2K was going on and three or four people I knew of (did not know them personally) had bunkers or an underground shelter built but certainly nothing elaborate. We have had the Y2K fear mongering, the black mold scare, and the covid overreaction, I wonder what is next.

http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/preparing-for-the-collapse-of-society/

For a long time, many people had faith that the government would be able to keep society stable, but now that has changed. In fact, one recent survey discovered that a whopping 71.2 percent of all Americans "have no faith in the U.S. government to save them or prevent a doomsday event"
Quote:

According to a survey of 6,200 Americans conducted by BonusFinder.com, 71.2 percent of Americans say they have no faith in the U.S. government to save them or prevent a doomsday event. Even more unnerving, many respondents believe Doomsday could come within the next year.

Many Americans are realizing that they will be forced to rely on themselves as society collapses, and so an increasing percentage of the population is spending significant money on emergency preparedness…
Quote:

Last April, the financial-services firm Finder found that the number of Americans who said they'd recently spent money on emergency preparedness jumped from 20% in 2020 to 29% in 2023. They spent an average of $150 on items such as nonperishable food, medical supplies, and cases of water. Today you can't turn on a streaming platform without catching recommendations for popular survivalist reality shows such as "Alone" or "Naked and Afraid," and on social media, homesteading and disaster-prepping influencers have amassed millions of followers across various platforms.

Disaster preparedness is on the rise, in large part, because disasters are as well: from the supply-chain shortages caused by COVID-19 lockdowns to the climate crisis, from wars in Ukraine and Gaza to tech-driven loneliness, from runaway disinformation to intractable political polarization. More people are asking: Am I better off being hyperdependent on the global industrial economy? Would it be safer to grow my own food, store my own water, and not depend on complex systems I don't understand?

I'm a doomsday prepper and when disaster strikes my bunker door will remain closed to everyone outside my household - even if they're family

Rowan MacKenzie, from Missouri, who became a social media phenomenon after revealing she's been prepping her home for 12 years, believes it's necessary to prepare for the end of the world.

She previously hit the headlines after revealing she spent over $90,000 on her hidden bunker stockpile.

She said: 'I've always said that if you didn't help build it, then hard decisions will have to be made.
'My door won't be open to anyone, family or not, as I've prepared for my own home. I feel bad, but hard times call for hard knocks - and a harsh reality.'

As her stock grew, the homemaker spent more than $10,000 on having the underground space built into the basement of her home, where she keeps food and water, as well as defence weaponry.

Now, with several wars, a strain on the economy, and potential 10ft aliens coming to earth, the 'prepper' has taken to new measures to ensure her family is kept safe.

'I'm preparing, as a whole, for war, inflation, nuclear disaster, and all out chaos,' Rowan said.

Sack up.

Mother Nature and Darwin will clear out the fodder the first few months.

All you and your family have to do is survive the first 90 days.

It will be stressful but not more than most people can't handle.
