Texas A&M Faculty Senate Attempts to Unilaterally Rewrite Texas Public Information Act

The American Accountability Foundation is advising A&M's general counsel to tell employees they must comply with Public Information Act requests.

During the December 11 meeting of the A&M "faculty senate," Senior Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs Heather Lench claimed that citizen inquiry was "harassing" and "threatening." Lench furthermore claimed that AAF's requests were a threat to "academic freedom."

Good luck with that.

Only the legislature can change the law.

The A&M Faculty Senate is under the delusional view that not only do they run the university and the university system, but the entire state as well.

There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

I would find it threatening also if I was being paid way too much by the people I'm giving the finger to while they try to stick their nose into my entitled playhouse.

They are doing things that they know the public would not like.

The leftist infiltration in academia is a long term problem that we have let fester for way too long and it is affecting several generations.

The underlying premise of our research is that emotional processes are the foundation of behavior and thought. We examine the role of affective reactions and emotions in how people think about the future and what they think will happen to them in the future. We are also investigating when and why particular emotions might improve functioning and decision making.

Typical woman. People making emotional decisions is what screws up virtually everything.

Well I guess she can study first hand what "emotions" she experiences behind bars for a few months.

The Faculty Senate can while about public information requests all they want, but they don't set policy. The faculty don't even receive requests directly from the public; instead, they are made to the university's public information officer, who is then charged with gathering the information and responding. So, faculty involvement in these matters is merely performing clerical duties once called upon by the public information office; of course, if they fail to provide responsive information, they risk criminal liability, and the public information office doesn't want to get caught up in that, either.

This video is mostly clickbait from an organization trying to raise money.

Yup. It's the old Empower Texans folks. They are a PAC. They really seem to be targeting A&M lately.

Hate to break it to you, but there is a lot of research that shows that virtually all of your decision making is primarily emotional, and the analytical part of your brain is often just rubber stamping the already made emotional decision and rationalizing it ex post facto.

Every college professor should be required to work in the "business world" for 5 years before teaching.

Give them perspective that they otherwise don't get or don't even know exists.

Specially that gal at Harvard. I could easily see her working at Ollie's.
