Unlucky *******. If only the bailiff had kneeled on his neck he would've gotten a park, main street and airport terminal named after him.

Quote:

Later, when asked why he'd committed the act, he said...he'd had a "bad day"...he'd wanted to kill Holthus because she "has it out for me"

"Judge is evil," Redden said, adding, "I'm sorry you guys had to see that."
A bad day.

She is evil and has it out for me.

[therefore] Sorry you had to see that.

Hardly a sentence to evaluate and I can tell you that this person has never taken responsibility for his actions his entire life.

And we can all thank criminal justice reform and neo-Marxist, oppressor, bull**** for continued attempts to integrate him into society all the way up to the lack of preparation in the courtroom. After all, he's the real victim, evil [whitey] has it out for him and it was simply a bad day.

When I was a kid, my black belt karate sensei worked as a bailiff, and we were all nearly certain that he sought out that job for the opportunity to beat the **** out of guys like this one (his style was way more Johnny Lawrence than Danny LaRusso).

He said he wanted to kill the judge, so he could be charged with attempted murder (two to twenty years in prison, plus an additional one to twenty years since the judge was at least sixty years old, so up to forty years in prison).

I give that leap over the bench 10/10.

He smashed the judge's head against the wall, so they could prove attempted murder if they charged him with it.

Before the judge told him she wasn't giving him probation, he told her he wasn't a rebellious person.

After he attacked the judge, he asked an officer if what he did was wrong, which reminds me of George Costanza's "Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?" speech.

The maximum for the charge he was being sentenced on when he attacked the judge was four years, and he would have been eligible for parole within nineteen months if he had gotten the maximum, so he's an idiot for racking up thirteen new charges when he would have been out in four years at most.

I say she should sentence him to 3 years, 364 days, 23 hours, and 45 minutes. Then tell him that if she was of a vendictive nature she would have given him the max but will professionally keep his behavior that day from playing a role in her decision.

Then hold him in contempt of court at her discretion pending his transfer to the State penitentiary to formally begin his sentence.

Oh and yes that leap was certainly impressive.

Yes. As soon as he ran at the judge the bailiff should have put four rounds in him. Only way this crap stops. Make an example of these wild animals.

In order to be released on bail, he has to pay fifteen percent of the $54,000, so $8,100.

She could still give him the maximum four years, since it's his ninth assaultive conviction and he's previously gotten probation multiple times.

https://www.leg.state.nv.us/nrs/nrs-207.html#NRS207Sec010

Unless the person is prosecuted pursuant to NRS 207.012 or 207.014, a person convicted in this State of:

Any felony, who has previously been seven times convicted, whether in this State or elsewhere, of any crime which under the laws of the situs of the crime or of this State would amount to a felony is a habitual criminal and shall be punished for a category A felony by imprisonment in the state prison:

(1) For life without the possibility of parole;

(2) For life with the possibility of parole, with eligibility for parole beginning when a minimum of 10 years has been served; or

(3) For a definite term of 25 years, with eligibility for parole beginning when a minimum of 10 years has been served.

After he's convicted of his new charges, he'll most likely have seven felony convictions (the charge he was being sentenced for when he attacked the judge was his fourth felony conviction), so if he commits another felony, a life sentence will be on the table

My dads bench had bullet proof steel box around his legs. The whole desk was bulletproof and was his fallback location. She didn't make it.

You didn't watch the video did you. The dude was on the judge before Doc Holiday or Billy the Kid cleared leather. Only quick draw could have gotten the drop on him would have been The Waco Kid.

You want the baliff to shoot the guy while he's rolling around on top of the Judge?

Some of y'all have seen too many movies
twk
How long do you want to ignore this user?
This. There was no opportunity to shoot him, especially not without endangering others. Now, once they got to him, I would have tasered him until he pissed his pants and started foaming at the mouth.

I've seen some high risk defendants who were shackled to the counsel table in such a way that the jury could not see it. I don't believe there was any jury here, however, so there would not have been anything wrong with having the guy cuffed at the hearing, but from what I've ready, I'm not sure that this guy had done anything to make the bailiff think that would be necessary.

So 19 to 48 months for the sentence.

The judge was very careful to say that she was not changing the sentence from what it was before his attack on her. I don't understand that. Could it be that she was worried that an Appeals Court would remand the case because of that? What would be the grounds?

He's due back in court on Tuesday (today) for the 13 additional charges he picked up last week including coercion with force, intimidation of a public officer, extortion, and multiple counts of battery on a protected person

Unsurprisingly, his mother and his sister think it is so unfair because they claim that he is being punished for his mental state; for his inability to do any better. From his sister, "he doesn't even understand that what he did was wrong." Neither appears to think that he should be held accountable for his crimes -- it is all about making him feel good.
