I'm from the camp that believes that Trump is being propped up by the DNC/DOJ/media to make him a martyr and guarantee his win in the primaries. The same hatred that cost him the 2020 election (combined with sketchy voting practices) will preclude his return to the White House. There's a roadmap for beating him with Biden and I think Trump gets trounced by Newsom. Add to that Kennedy siphoning votes from Rs and Is who can't get themselves to vote for Trump in the general and it's a foregone conclusion.
Under that assumption, the polls are the result of an effective campaign.
I'll vote for Trump in the general if that's the way it shakes out, but IMO, DeSantis is the RNCs only hope of a victory in '24.
If you take Trump out of the race, I am not convinced that DeSantis can even beat the rest of the field. If Trump is out, the war monger Haley probably wins. DeSantis' campaign is awful and he comes off as boring and just another politician. I'm not saying his ideas are bad, but his delivery sucks.
Hey, he doesn't deliver stuff the way I like, so I'll ignore the way he's run Florida.
Things like using an actual science based approach to COVID prioritizing seniors more than anyone else because the data says so. Things like cleaning up voting laws and procedure in his state (which seems like something a president should focus on too). Things like winning freaking Miami-Dade by double digits. Things like leading the way on conservative policy to the point where Texas is following his lead.
But hey, he doesn't make up silly names about people he doesn't like.
Oh, and he does go at the media (maybe try listening to his press conferences in Florida), but I'm not going to give him a chance because I am stuck in 2016 with Trump.
